oliver luck...who happens to have a son some people know about...has been hired to be the #2 guy behind emmert. with all those unsealed court documents that will soon be publicized in the usc mcnair/paterno/corman lawsuits....it's just a matter of time before emmert is implicated in something that he can't weasel his way out of. and it makes sense that the next ncaa president have a more athletic background and not some academic egghead again. the only question that remains is if the ncaa will wait for emmerts impending embarrassment, or if they sneak emmert out the backdoor quietly. www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/2014/12/17/oliver-luck-ncaa-west-virginia-college-football-playoff/20529783/

how could emmert possibly sneak quietly out a back door? lol. when he leaves, whenever it is, it will make some noise. it's all about timing. freeh has press conference the day after the baseball all star day, the only day of the calendar year there's no major sports are on. the ncaa rescinds the psu sanctions the morning the ray rice tape was publicly released. the freeh release would seem to be planned for that time. ncaa couldn't have predicted the release of the rice tape.

it's all about timing. freeh has press conference the day after the baseball all star day, the only day of the calendar year there's no major sports are on. the ncaa rescinds the psu sanctions the morning the ray rice tape was publicly released. the freeh release would seem to be planned for that time. ncaa couldn't have predicted the release of the rice tape. the ncaa's decision to rescind psu's sanctions came immediately after an annual report was released by george mitchell, who made the recommendation so the ncaa could be absolved from the whole mess they created. did the ncaa purposely wait until a bombshell story distracted the masses? no. probably not. could the ncaa have waited a day or two to make their announcement? yes, but they chose not to. probably b/c they didn't want to deal with any negative backlash. but the point is when you want maximum coverage on something, you wait for a time the news cycle is slow. if you don't want it in the newscycle, you announce something during a major event. if emmert steps down super bowl sunday, would there be noise?

and if you want a decision to be known, once a decision's been made, w/o holding it and having it leak out outside your control, you announce the decision asap. not everything is conspiracy-driven. not a conspiracy to suggest that the ncaa might have pushed up their timing on the sanction relief once they say the hysteria that the leaked ray rice tape was creating. i could be wrong, but i believe the ncaa's decision went public the same exact time the annual mitchell report was publicly released. why would they not want to give the public some time to digest what was in that report? it was obviously important b/c it was the basis for removing the sanctions (according to the ncaa). maybe it was because they wanted to get ahead of the story? maybe since they already knew the jist of the report that instead of waiting for public (and your) outcry, claiming the report was reason enough to ease the sanctions, they decided not to be put in the position of reacting to the public? and why would the ncaa care about ray rice? other than being an off the field story within football, it had nothing to do w/the psu case whatsoever. and it certainly didn't cast a large enough shadow to shield any due publicity for the sanction relief.
