Those Big XII hillbillies in West Virginny, apparently, prefer hot dogs to fried groundhog or squirrel.
What I'm wondering-- does Robb know what "Peruvian" cuisine is?

A gastropub is a new type of Pub. Multi high end beer and not your basic burgers and fries. Basically its attraction is not just the beer, but the food. Search for one in your area and give it a try. You may like it.
I do not know what Peruvian food is.

We've got a few Peruvian restaurants here in SoBay. Apparently, there was an influx of Japanese to Peru in the past so a few of the restaurants have this weird blend of Japanese and South American cuisine that you wouldn't think would work, but does. There are others that are more traditional and strictly South American cuisine. Really interesting tastes. Here is the menu of one of our favorite places. www.kotoshrestaurant.com/#!menus

Well, I just hope they don't serve sushi made with raw guinea pig... What's that 'spos'ta mean, ya gringo bastard.... Someone told me that they eat guinea pig in the Andes. You said Peruvian food was some synthesis of Japanese and South American, so I was thinking, guinea pig sushi?

You may like it. I do not know what Peruvian food is. When I lived in Connecticut, there was a Peruvian bakery about 2 blocks from my home. I stopped in there about twice a week, then hit the Italian deli on the next block for some great pasta dishes.

I'll bet Ernest finds it surprising that the home of Southern Cuisine is in the ...
Southern states. Who would have guessed that?

What I'm wondering-- does Robb know what "Peruvian" cuisine is?
Given that my daughter-in-law is Peruvian....yes I do. I LOVE her cooking...and peruvian cuisine in general. The most popular Peruvian places here are "A La Brasa" chicken restaurants.....Chicken marinated in spices like salt, pepper, cumin and garlic, then cooked over a real charcoal fire. Often served with Aji Amarillo (yellow pepper sauce) or aji verde (green chile pepper sauce), and a side of fried yucca. I know of at least a dozen such places within a half-hour drive of here. Many of these restaurants feature other dishes as well, such as Lomo Saltado, which is essentially French Fries with strips of tomato, marinated, grilled beef and grilled onion. allrecipes.com/recipe/peruvian-lomo-saltado/ This is one of my favorites. Another is Papa Rellena, in which seasoned ground beef & egg is wrapped in mashed potatoes, rolled in flour and deep fried. Causa Rellena is similar, but made with seafood, Pollo Rellena with chicken. Peruvian cuisine is heavy on potatoes. Our friend Cynthia (The like American sounding names in Peru!) told us once that she thought they had a hundred different types of potatoes at home....but the purple ones are probably the best known. These are the foods most commonly found in little Peruvian restaurants. They're really popular because they're also fairly cheap. I can get a 1/4 chicken, salad and fried Yucca for about the same price as a Quarter-pounder meal at McDonalds! By the way...the many different versions of Peruvian Ceviche are ALL awesome!

I've had about half of those foods....some I mentioned in my post above. The Inca Cola is kind of like creme soda. I can take it or leave it, but it's one of the few sodas that Stephen will drink now.
