The NFL coaching merry-go-round has now brought several former Denver Broncos coaches back to the Mile High City. With the Broncos' DC Jack Del Rio taking over as head coach at Oakland, Elway & Gary Kubiak have rehired Wade Phillips as Denver's DC. They wanted Cincinnati's defensive backs coach, Vance Joseph, but the Bengals would not release the former Colorado Buff's QB. Former Bronco LB Rick Denison has come back to town as Kubiak's OC.
IMO, Wade Phillips has always been a top notch DC-- especially during his tenure with the San Diego Chargers.
Still not clear whether Peyton Manning will be back next year. he has another few weeks to decide, and has been working with a physical therapist on his quad injury from December.
Here's a trivia question for the board. Where did Bill Belichick begin his NFL coaching career, and who hired him?

If you're talking career as a head coach that's easy; art Modell in Cleveland in the early 90s. Thought I read he started his nfl career in Baltimore but I don't remember the coach who hired him.

Bill Belichick started his NFL coaching career as an assistant to the late great DC Joe Collier of the Denver Broncos.
Collier was a great DC-- architect of the Orange Crush defense, which was statistically close to the Pittsburgh Steel Curtain defense back in the 70s.
Incredibly, not a single player on Denver's 1970s era Orange Crush defense-- including the great Randy Gradishar, Tom Jackson, Lyle Alzado, Rubin Carter, or Louis Wright-- was ever voted into the NFL Hall of Fame, nor was Joe Collier, a pioneer of the 3-4 defense, and original mentor of Bill Belichick.

Mark,
I was just testing you on that bit of Bill Bellicose trivia -- to see if you are really as nowledgeable about football as fans from Nebraska...
Of course, I also never knew that Bill B. was an assistant at Baltimore and Detroit before getting hired by Joe Collier, but that's beside the point...
Early coaching positions
After graduating, Belichick took a $25-per-week job as an assistant to Baltimore Colts head coach Ted Marchibroda in 1975.[10] In 1976, he joined the Detroit Lions as their assistant special teams coach before adding tight ends and wide receivers to his coaching duties in 1977. He spent the 1978 season with the Denver Broncos as their assistant special teams coach and defensive assistant.
