Although the better call would be a no call and play on, given the camera angle it was a foul. Ya it happens some but what was Newbill thinking or perhaps he just wasn't thinking. Jeez if he doesn't try to cut him off before he was flicked away like a flea, there is no chance for a call to go against him. No different than if he was in front of the play and initiated a moving screen.
Maybe not the best call but certainly not the worst. Bonehead play by Newbill.

Maybe not the best call but certainly not the worst. Bonehead play by Newbill. newbill was just jogging up the court, i don't think he was intentionally trying to cut him off.

Having been at the game he most definitely was intentionally in front of Amir to slow him down. Still not a foul on him but he knew exactly what he was doing.

Yeah I was in philly we'd/thur for mtgs and thought I'd drive over. It was like driving thru a car wash on the turnpike both ways before it turned to snow overnight. And where they play is anything but crappy. BJC is a nice facility. What's crappy is the fan support.

What's crappy is the fan support. that's a schlep. thursday was terrible weather. the bjc has a nice seating capacity, but there is no intimacy with the bryce jordan center. you're not close to the court. both ends of the court are deep. baseline seating has this akward stackable chairs on the floor. it doesn't feel like a basketball stadium b/c it was never intended to be a basketball stadium. it was actually designed to attract big ten and ncaa wrestling tournaments b/c wrestling has always been a bigger priority than basketball. it was also built to attract musicians and comedians traveling across the state between pittsburgh and philly. i'm not going to lie and suggest penn state fans are passionate about penn state basketball. they're not. but the fan support is lacking b/c the school never invested in the program. they've made the tournament three since joining the big ten 20 something years ago! 4 times my entire life (i'm in my 30's!). attending a college basketball game when youre not a good team is typically a spur of the moment type of decision. it's not one of those things that's planned in advance. you don't purchase season tickets when you know you're not going to win more than 5 conference games. instead, you wake up on a sunday morning and say "i have nothing really to do today, i'll head to the game and buy walk up tickets." and you have to drive through 7 mountains just to enter state college in the middle of winter. unless you already live in state college, which is not largely populated area outside of the university.
