well sports illustrated has a handful of regional covers this week, as opening day approaches. one of them has corey kluber and michael brantley on it, predicting that the tribe will win its first world series since '48. the last time si said cleveland was on its way to a title was back in '87. indians had had a decent '86... had lots of batting stars like joe carter and cory snyder returning. but the pitching fell apart in '87... and we lost 100 games, finishing dead last in the al east. that couldn't happen again... right? right??

In the first week, stars yan gomes and Michael Brantley go down with injuries. Gomes is out for 8 weeks w a knee injury. Saturday kluber pitched 6+ innings of 2 hit ball vs Detroit and then the bullpen lets the floodgates open in one of 3 losses to the Tigers. Jinx? Nah. Lol

It's a long season but the AL Central looks early on to be as tough a road ahead for the Indians as they could get. The Tigers were the next to last team to lose a game and the Royals will be the last when they do lose. Both teams look better than last year's edition with the Tigers having Price all year and adding Cespedes. The Royals additions of Morales and Rios look brilliant early on and they look to have improved the best bullpen in baseball. Should be a fun season.

Starting pitcher Carlos carrasco got drilled in the jaw from a line drive from melke Cabrera of the white sox. He's in the hospital. Tribe has dropped its first 4 games at home. Been a long time since that's happened.

I have a special edition DVD. Major League is one of my favorite movies period. They said Charlie Sheen actually became a really good pitcher. His actual fastball got up to 88-90MPH during filming and on one day of filming they said he threw 136 pitches.
