Looks like the big 10 (little b, little i, little g - and they still can't count past 10) can't hold a candle to the ACC (all big letters all the time).
Congrats to Duke for a great win.

Congrats to Duke for a great win. lol. ditto on duke re great win. krzyzewski has proven to be the ultimate college hoops coach. the defense played great in the last 10 minutes after being down 9. jones and allen basically took control of the game. uw's guards were outplayed badly last night. dekker was 0-8 on 3 pt shots too, although kaminsky played well. but nothing showed the aura of coach k more than his interview w/the cbs sideline reporter at halftime. he said we need to get more fouls called on wisconsin. voila! 10 fouls called in the first 10 minutes of the 2nd half on the team that has fouled less than any other team in the country. that is coaching power. it was a fantastic game to watch... every shot and possession.

impressive that duke was able to overcome all the adversity to win the national title tonight...i mean, it must be difficult having the best coach, the best recruits in the country begging to play for you every year, all those shiny trophies...just a heck of a job by them.
wisconsin is the lowest fouling team in the country yet somehow duke is in the bonus with over 8 minutes left. wisconsin got nowhere even near the bonus in the 2nd half. but in the first half, wisconsin was only called for 2 fouls. just strange imo. i think wisconsin lost their cool in the 2nd half once they realized they weren't going to be given breaks by the refs in the 2nd half.

Funny how that worked out, isn't it? i've officiated youth/junior high sports. even on that level it is not an easy job. that said, i already said earlier i thought the uk-uw game was questionable down the stretch... but last night i saw the refs call a foul on koenig's jaw when jones leaned into him w/his shoulder to take a shot. they missed cook (i think) dribbling on the baseline late in the game and he stepped out of bounds right in front of the official... the loose ball where clearly okafor touched it last w/his finger and the call was not overturned... duke plays great d but they handcheck-all the time-both inside and out on the perimeter, which is supposed to be not just illegal but a recent point of emphasis. the officials did not distinguish themselves last night. you can't take anything away from duke... in the last 10:00 the blue devils stepped up their game on both ends, and the badgers couldn't buy a bucket and had some trouble holding on to the ball too. talent trumped tenure. but hard not to feel for the uw players on how the 2nd half played out.
