i know it's not a college athletic event, but since jordan spieth should still be in college as a senior, i thought i'd make an exception. what he's doing at augusta right now is nothing short of amazing. he's in the middle of the fairway headed up 18 at -14. thru 35 holes, he has 15 birdies, 1 bogey, and 21 pars. unbelievable. 21 years old. you wouldn't think he can keep this up thru the weekend; the glare of the spotlight on saturday and sunday is different than thursday and friday, but his game is for... real.

He's been hot for three weeks. Spotlight plus how they set up the greens will make a difference on Sunday. If he doesn't pull a Shark he could do well. He and the rest of the young crowd are why Tiger won't catch Jack. Just too many guys who can get hot in any given major. And there are a few new young guys every year with amazing skills. Most play in more high pressure Jr events in a yr than the previous gens played in a lifetime. Same goes for basketball. These frshmsn aren't really that anymore. I heard on the broadcast that many of these kids are playing 70 games a summer before they get to college age. High pressure, highly visible games.

High pressure, highly visible games. well, jordan's now been hot for 4 weeks. counting the cool $1.8 mil he got in the pockets of his new green jacket at augusta, he's now made $4.1m in the last 4 weeks playing golf (1st, 2nd, 2nd and 1st this wknd). that has to be the best month in golf history. -18, 28 birdies in 4 rounds on a course that's never given up that many to a single player, ever. even though he was never really threatened at all sunday (nobody got closer than 3 shots), it was fun watching him navigate that final round. great combination of youth and maturity. and talent. quite a future in his headlights, and w/mcelroy setting the new level in terms of overall golf excellence, i like the prospect that spieth is going to be joining him at the top.
