Jonathan Taylor breaks Big Ten record for Freshman of the Week honors
It has been a momentous first year for Wisconsin running back Jonathan Taylor, and his accolades only continued on Monday in record-setting fashion.
The Big Ten Conference announced Taylor as its Freshman of the Week for the eighth time this season, breaking the mark set by Ohio State quarterback J.T. Barrett back in 2014.
Taylor rushed for 149 yards on 20 carries with a 53-yard touchdown in Wisconsin’s 31-0 win over Minnesota on Saturday. It was the ninth time in 12 games he has rushed for over 100 yards.
He ranks third in the country in both rushing yards (1,806) and rushing yards per game (150.5). He leads the Big Ten in both categories, along with ranking second in the conference in all-purpose yards (1,858), along with rushing and total touchdowns (13).
His 1,806 rushing yards places him third all-time in FBS history behind the likes of Oklahoma’s Adrian Peterson and Wisconsin’s Ron Dayne.

IF the Wisky QB keeps TOSU honest not allowing the Nuts to put 9 in the box he'll do OK especially in the 3rd and early 4th. If not it'll be a long day for Wisky. Wisky D is legit but even they're getting thin which hurts against talented depth and TOSU is talented. But if the D hangs in there, this should be a close game in the 4th. That'll favor the big uglies on the Wisky line.
Wisky is the ONLY team in Div one CFB NOT to trail in the fourth quarter so far this season. If they are ahead or tied going into the 4th, w the ball, they'll win. Maybe!! <g>

www.jsonline.com/story/sports/college/uw/2017/11/30/wisconsins-paul-chryst-named-consensus-big-ten-coach-year/907642001/Wisconsin's Paul Chryst is named consensus Big Ten coach of the yearMADISON - Thursday was another banner day for the Wisconsin football program. Paul Chryst, who has guided UW to a 12-0 mark and into the Big Ten title game for the second consecutive season, was named Big Ten coach of the year by the coaches and media. Chryst and Penn State’s James Franklin shared the honor last season. The league’s coaches picked Chryst and the media chose Franklin. “I think he is the best coach,” UW senior defensive end Alec James said this week when asked about Chryst. “A lot of coaches call themselves players' coaches but not a lot of them are. “He is one of those guys that really cares about us and the program at the same time. He isn’t too worried about what’s going on on the outside. You don’t see him on Twitter and that kind of stuff. He is just an old-school guy." Fifth-year senior tight end Troy Fumagalli was named the Kwalick-Clark tight end of the year. Fumagalli, a former walk-on, leads UW in receptions (38) and is second in receiving yards (471) and is tied for second in touchdown receptions (four). His blocking has helped UW average 243.3 rushing yards per game, the No. 2 mark in the league. Tailback Jonathan Taylor was named the league's freshman of the year. Taylor finished the regular season No. 1 in the Big Ten in rushing at 150.5 yards per game. He averaged 7.0 yards per carry and scored 13 touchdowns. The league's No. 2 rusher, Ohio State freshman J.K. Dobbins, averaged 7.3 yards per carry and 99.2 per game. He has seven rushing touchdowns. James shared a story about something he routinely notices in Chryst. “The biggest thing that I appreciate about him and one thing I’ve noticed about him is that whenever someone is talking he is fully locked in to whoever is talking, whatever they’re saying,” James said. “He is one of those guys who gives you his full attention, really tries to soak in anything that anyone is saying. I think that makes him a better coach.” Linebacker Chris Orr noted Chryst is so unassuming that if you didn't know him and encountered him on campus you'd never guess his profession. "You wouldn’t know he is the head coach of the Badgers if you just met him without any gear or anything on," Orr said. "I would think a gym coach or a teacher. I wouldn’t think Power 5, University of Wisconsin head coach. "He is a great coach, the best coach I’ve ever met. He is the most down to earth coach I’ve ever met."

In the immortal words of Kevin Bacon in A Few Good Men... "Your boys are going down, Danny. I can't stop it anymore." Great movie. The year's been a fun ride. If it ends Sat, no sorrow for me. If it moves on to Jan for the dance w the Big 4, even better. Joe Panos’ last game in a Wisconsin uniform was 24 seasons ago – the 1994 Rose Bowl against UCLA. It was Panos, then UW’s starting right tackle, who asked after the ’93 Big Ten opener: Why not Wisconsin? Panos was suggesting UW had the necessary ingredients to win the Big Ten. It's first since 1963. And today the same Q can be asked. Why not Wisconsin?

The OSU team cheered they managed a tie. I don't believe either team is at the level of the 93 squads at this time. In 93 there was definitely more separation between the top 10 teams in the country, and the rest.

Line for Wisconsin/Miami has the badgers as the dog.........I don't believe Miami can handle getting slapped with meat for 60 minutes. previous B10 DC coordinator Nard at sPitt played basic MSU D against them. The badgers have a better D than sPitt. On D, Miami is fast to the edge, but won't be able to withstand 1600 pounds of fat bastard up the middle. Taylor should have 170-220 on the ground against them. Hornibrook should be able to find the receivers 10-15 yards down field.

Man, Did I call this game or what.............hehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehehe Interesting stat given during the game last night.......one that I mentioned on the old boards, at the beginning of the stretch. Miami hasn't been a serious contender for 15 years. 15 years ago OSU pounded 'em, it took 'em this long to recover. Wisky pounded 'em, they'll not recover some time from this one.

Miami lived off of turnovers all year but lost that battle last night 3-1 with the points off of turnovers 10-0. Seeing the little kid with the "W" turnover chain at the end of the game was pretty funny.
