Tribe is playing well and KC is in a funk right now. Not scoring many runs. Hopefully they kick that off pretty quickly and get back to pounding the ball like they were earlier in the year. well, that good streak the indians had dissolved last week. after going 12-4 thru 6/4/15, the tribe's lost 3 straight series going 3-6. and it's the bats. 24 runs in 9 games isn't going to get you in a pennant race. only scored more than 3 runs twice (winning both). 4 vs the cubbies then 3 vs tampa bay this week, both are playing well. cleveland does not pay a team with a losing record until oakland on july 10-12. this team has to start hitting. soon.

While not good, at least we haven't been swept...but you're right. We need to be more consistent in run production to have any kind of showing at all in this pennant race.

That's freaking baseball. One week you have the hottest team in the country and two weeks later they can't buy a hit. It's a long season.

well, when may ended, it looked like cleveland had turned its season around. they finished the month 10-3, winning 3 of 4 series and making it 4 of 5 by taking 2 of 3 from the royals to start off june. i mentioned that the tribe had a daunting stretch; they didn't play a team w/a losing record from june 2nd til july 9th (oakland). and it's showing. indians have won just 1 of its last 7 series, going 7-15 til finally beating the rays last night. they've scored more than 3 runs just 7 times in the last 23 games. cory kluber is 3-9. in his 16 starts, cleveland has scored less than 3 total runs in 12 of those starts. francona has already started making moves, sending ramirez and chisenhall down to columbus, calling up lindor (who isn't going anywhere) and urshela to try and spark the offense/chemistry.
swisher is making $15 mil but is back on the d.l. in the 30 games he has played he's batting .198 w/2 hr's and 8 rbi's. that math doesn't add up bourn is making $13.5 mil i think. .223 ba, just .295 obp. those numbers don't cut it either. i'm still a fan of santana and he's one of the few power threats in the line up (if you can call 9 hr's a threat) but he still chases way too much. .211 ba. it's weird because he has such a good eye (52 walks, .345 obp) but he has to get the bat on the ball more. he makes $6 mil. that can't last much longer beyond this year.
i don't want to see this team become sellers after the all-star break. this pitching staff is good enough to get you into october. kipnis is having an all-star season (.348/.424), brantley a steady .300+, raburn and murphy have been productive. but those are the only 4 players who've played 50+ games who are batting above .230!!!!!!! as cane says, it is a long season, and we're only about halfway thru. you have to get more bats in the lineup. 34-41, 11 back of the royals. catching them is highly unlikely. but you still have 6-7 teams in front of a potential wildcard. can't wait til september to start finding your groove at the plate.

Kipnis has as many hits in this series as the entire Rays' team. And with the Tribe's ace on the mound today, that isn't likely to change.

And with the Tribe's ace on the mound today, that isn't likely to change. how 'bout carrasco last night? felt awful for him that he lost the no-hitter w/2 outs and 2 strikes on butler in the 9th. he pitched a gem. first time in modern history (expansion '61) that a team has pitched perfect baseball for at least 5 innings in 3 consecutive games. maybe playing indoors is just what the tribe needed to kick start their season? on the offense side, it's the most runs cleveland has scored in 3 consecutive games (21) since scoring 23 in a series vs toronto may 1-3.

Indians beat Houston 4-2 tonite
- tribe has now won 7 of the last 10 games - Trevor Bauer got the win and went over 100 k's for the season. Cleveland 's pr folks say that makes the first time ever that a team has 4 pitchers with 100+ strikeouts prior to the all star break. If this team can just find its hitting stroke... - more evidence to how good the Indians pitching staff is this year. When Cleveland scores just 4 runs or more, they are 32-11 this year. 3 or less? 8-33. Score 4 boys, just score 4.

kudos to the cheeseheads who came out at county stadium in milwaukee for a few days to help make that one of the more entertaining, and realistic looking, sports movies. also liked that the tribe didn't win the world series in the movie. they beat the yankees in a playoff game. of course, at that time (late 80s/early 90s) that was as good as most of us indian fans could hope for. lol. i think this is the best staff cleveland's had since sam, sonny and luis tiant were here nearly half a century ago. of course, those teams in the late 60s couldn't hit either.

From The Plain Dealer___A sad commentary
Kluber dropped to 4-10 this season, though his ERA improved to 3.38. He limited Oakland to two runs on four hits and two walks. He tallied six strikeouts over eight innings and threw 72 of his 112 pitches for strikes. Kluber has tossed at least 6 2/3 innings in 11 of his last 12 starts.
