With Irving and Love the Cavs would have already had the trophy. But, those damn injuries...it's almost as if Cleveland is jinxed or something. __stirring the pot gets cwg going..

the 3 point shot has been in the nba for 35 years now, yet it's still so counter-intuitive for 99.9% of players to defend the 3 first, the 2 2nd. when curry started putting on his show in the last 5-6:00, dellavenova was on his heels trying to keep curry from driving to the hoop, when curry was really trying to just clear space for a 3 pt jumper. it's tough to force your instincts to get into his body way outside, and risk getting beat on the dribble. but that is what you have to do, especially when your foot speed doesn't match the guy you're trying to guard. easier said than done, obviously. curry was other-worldly down the stretch. the fact that the cavs won games 2 &3 (and arguably could/should have won game 1) is nothing short of amazing. but the warriors consistently winning the 4th qtr/ot tells you all you need to know. they have more bodies. w/love and irving out, cleveland had to have smith and shumpert step up their games to provide a consistent outside threat to give lebron more room when he has the ball, and they just haven't done it. smith teased us w/his 1st half last night, but his shot and his game disappeared in the 2nd. james going 40/14/11 is amazing enough... the fact that he got 11 assists w/the spotty offense his teammates on the floor generate may be the most remarkable of the 3 numbers. in the same way that kerr decided to do more double-teaming of james, i'm wondering if blatt should do the same w/curry. mix up some times where you try to trap him and force his supporting cast to score. the problem w/that, of course, is that curry's supporting cast is made up of better scorers than james' is. but with your back against the wall, you cannot let a team start raining 3's on you. that wasn't the only issue last night, either; the warriors got multiple offensive boards down the stretch to extend possessions (5 times i think) while getting out-rebounded in the 4th. blatt chose to keep mozgov on the bench to play the warriors' game of small ball, which i think was a strategic error. need to try and force them to play your game. i hope that's what the cavs do tomorrow night. Long threes give you long rebounds. Then it's all on where the ball goes, sometimes. NBA is a changen but it'll change again. If the Cavs are cursed, how about Philly. Or is it just making poor decisions leads to consequences.
Curry's a talent but I wonder how many TOs he gives up. Ying, yang. Philly cursed??? You serious? How many Super Bowls Eagles been to? Now Browns? When's the last time the Phillies won the world series? Now Indians?? It's not close

It's not close philly has had bad luck but we do have 2008 to fall back on. but besides 2008, philly has probably has had the least amount of success in the finals/semi's out of most teams. but at least college football fans in cleveland have something to fall back on too. maybe buffalo is the most cursed city? 4 straight super bowl losses? norwood wide right? losing a stanley cup in a b.s call (brett hull was in the crease on his game winning goal). no major college sports in buffalo. just 72 inches of snow to shovel after their team losses.

.....well its over___Blatt is a stubborn sob not using his bench with miller and harris when the cavs fell behind____on with summer. imho miller was too much of a liability on d, and harris just didn't have enough experience. he chose to go big and stay big pretty much the entire game. you hope that will create not just a big edge on the boards but also allow the cavs to dominate the paint on offense w/mozgov and thompson. it work in terms of rebounds (56-39 edge) and those 2 put up 17 and 15 pts, but got negated w/the cavs being so sloppy w/the ball (19 turnovers, 25 pts allowed off them, vs just 9 and 13 for the warriors. lebron unfortunately had 6 of those to's. and the guy mozgov let go on all those pick and roll's to double curry, iguodala, ended up w/his best game of the series w/25 points including 3 3's. gs had 28 assists, and drained 13 3's overall to cleveland's 6. the warriors simply had more shooters on the floor than the cavs who could drain shots. j.r. smith finally found his touch w/19, but 15 of them came in the 4th qtr when the cavs fell behind by as much as 15 points. were able to get it to 4 in the last minute, but that was it. congrats to the warriors who deserved to win this series. i'm happy for steve kerr, of whom i'm a big fan for his life on and off the court, what he's had to overcome. one of the good guys in the game. the ultimate goal is to put the biscuit in the basket, and they can do that from multiple spots and with nearly everyone they put on the floor. those around james could not do the same. lebron went 32/18/9, another incredibly productive game but it turns out they needed 40 out of him. going 2-10 from 3 hurt. the team going 6-26 outside the arc hurt. the guys who got hurt and missed the bulk of the series hurt. lol lebron went 13-33 from the field, 39.4%. his teammates went 19-49, 38.8%. you just had to shoot better. and not having love and irving, who were the main outside threats all season long, was just too much to overcome. who the nba picked as mvp for the series is ultimately pretty immaterial. iguodala, who won, or curry, who showed off his unique talents from the 4th qtr of game 3 thru last night, were both deserving off the winning team. but the winning team did not have a guy who averaged, AVERAGED, 36 pts, 13 boards and 9 assists a game for the series. no player in nba history has ever ended a finals series leading both teams in all 3 of those categories. if irving and love recover, and return to the cavs, this team has a great shot at getting back and finishing on top.

Iguodala was one of three ex- Denver Nuggets in the NBA Finals this year-- along with Mozgov and J.R. Smith. He's probably the only NBA Finals MVP-- besides Shaq-- who can't make a free throw.
In any case, we all know who the best player in the NBA is, but there's no way James could win out with that supporting cast.
So, in an unusual turn of events, Harry Chicken turned out to be right about the series, after all.

That Hull "goal" was one of the worst calls of all-time but the celebration had already begun so there was no way the video review was going to overturn it. They had to come up with something as an excuse so suddenly the puck preceding the player was the ruling despite the fact that the puck left the crease after Hull was in it. Yeah, still a little bitter about that mainly because I couldn't stand Brett Hull or Pat Verbeek.

Interested to know why that is. I always liked Ruff as a coach and ironically, I met him that season at the All-Star Game here in Tampa. He was very engaging despite the chaos all around him.
