never had beef with LA fans before. but i've corresponded with many over the past few weeks regarding this offseason especially with the drama of being teams that chose at the top of the draft. many believe they are entitled to being great simply b/c they are the lakers. and to be honest, i'd feel the same way if i were a fan of a team that had as much success. but screw them. the arrogance is annoying especially when my hasn't won more than twenty games in three years. so it was nice to see the lakers strike out on all major free agents today:
kevin love is going back to cleveland.
lamarcus aldridge left LA without signing and is said to be leaning towards san antonio.
tyson chandler to phoenix.
when was the last time the lakers even signed a major free agent?

Dwight Howard, a few years ago, and, of course the guy they signed that the NBA then said wasn't fair even though the two sides agreed to it....Chris Paul. IMO, Aldridge, et al, was about putting entertaining BBall on the floor and not so much winning a ring. You and I agree that a ring isn't in their near future. So, as much as I would love to have gotten Aldridge and Chandler, (Kevin Love...not so much), they are not really "rebuild" pieces. They are more of a "what can we do NOW to put fannies in the seats" pieces. Put Aldridge and Chandler on the team and they're what....a 4 or 5 seed, tops maybe, in the West? IMO, the Lakers need to build around some kid or kids and get a new generational nucleus in place now that Kobe isn't a force to build around any longer.

I know bc the sixers were involved and LA gave up damage goods (Bynum) for him. chris Paul also would have been a trade if the league didn't nix the deal. I honestly can't recall the last major free agent LA signed.
