Ouch. lol. that's exactly what i thought of that quote too. if you look at mlb rosters, the fastest growing segment of players are from central/south america. my question would be how strong the support would be from a fan base that, in general, doesn't have the kind of middle class that the u.s. has. corporate support in those countries would be there, but who would buy enough game tix to sit above the box/luxury seats? Ya plus the fact that in most of Latin America it's open carry and I don't mean the beer. It's open carry. Don't play well, it's open season. Luxury seats are once used chicken crates. Outfield seats not so clean. There's a reason down there that a bad team is called chicken shit.

With expansion imminent is it possible that they may put a major league team in Cleveland? <<<<<<ducking>>>>>>> Damn__that was a kick to the groin. Cleveland has 10 games with KC left this season with 7 of those in Cleveland__Vargas has beaten Cleveland 3 times this season and now is on the DL__Its now or never for the Tribe to make that push for the 2nd wild card.

But, think how much fun it would be?
CERRANO – “Bats, they are sick. I cannot hit curveball. Straight ball, I hit it very much. Curveball, bats are afraid. I ask Jobu to come, take fear from bats. I offer him cigar, rum. He will come.”
HARRIS – “You know, you might wanna think about taking Jesus Christ as your saviour instead of fooling around with all this stuff.”
CERRANO – “Ah, Jesus. I like him very much. But he no help with curveball.”
HARRIS – “Are you trying to say Jesus Christ can’t hit a curveball?”
i've said it before and i'll say it again... major league is an underrated, funny, good sports movie. just remember, when the situation calls for the sacrificing of a live chicken, that there's a kfc nearby to meet your needs. lol Absolutely one of my favorite sports movies, right up there with Bull Durham and Field of Dreams. I thought Major League 2 was a bit of a disappointment but I do also love Major League 3.

Add in Sand Lot. "Adult" BB films you gotta include Bull Durham & Field of Dreams. Like in Sand Lot, I can remember hustling coke bottles to get a baseball from the local hardware store.

No Eight Men Out? Communist. i liked 8 men out, but other than charlie sheen you could tell a lot of those guys playing the black sox in the movie hadn't played much ball in real life. unlike costner in bull durham for example, who played some at cal state-fullerton (i think) and looked the part. so many scenes in bull durham were spot on in terms of minor league/amateur ball, none moreso than the following...

Sandlot is another classic. Watched that with my kids more than once. Went to HS with a kid that never played organized BB until his Jr yr in HS and then only 3 mo a yr. Hell of an athlete. Ended up signing w the Phillies and got to the bigs, real briefly, for a cup of coffee. But he made it.

When our kids were little we had the Red Sox class A Florida State League team in town. Just about any day you could go into local businesses and find a stack of free tickets to the games. We would pack up the boys when I got home from work and take them to the ballpark. Most every night they would get one or two foul balls just because there weren't that many people at the games and they were willing to run for them Got to see a lot of former MLB players working as scouts in the stands. I'd recognize them and tell the boys to go ask for an autograph. Invariably once the other kids saw ours getting an autograph they would come running and eventually that player would have to move from the stands to the press box. Oh well. Met Maury Wells there one night. Frank White a few times when he was working for the Red Sox as a minor league advisor. We'd buy the kids a buck hot dog for dinner and head home about the 7th inning. Great times.

Took my oldest daughter (15 at the time) to West Palm Beach for a week to Braves spring training. Down to Ft. Lauderdale one day to see them play the Yankees, up to Port St. Luce to se the Mets, and to Vero Beach one day for a game against the Hated Dodgers. That was the best game, as we sat right on the 1st base line and the players for both teams walked right in front of us. Several players and coaches stopped for autographs and pictures and chatted with fans. Players and coaches brought folding chairs from the locker room to the dugout. Dodgers there used the 3rd base dugout just like in LA. LaSorda came and signed autographs and chatted up all the Atlanta fans before and after the game.
Daughter and I had a great time and got along well. She had her books and class assignments and did her work on the beach in the mornings. She had her learners permit so I let her drive part way down and back. was a grea week with her.
