Y'all still thinkin there's sumpthin special 'bout TCU? Just wait till that defense plays a team with an offense. Or better yet, just wait til TCU plays a team with a defense. Ba(hint, it ain't baylor)Morin At least TCU didn't lose their opener by 14 to a similarly crappy team at home.

The attempts to establish a narrative continue. IMHO tcu got a good win on the road vs a quality team in an opener where teams often look sloppier early in the season. Similar to how osu's game went last year in about 60 degrees less heat.

Thank you for not kicking the field goal Tarheels. Lol. Was thinking the same thing for a couple reasons. 3 picks in the red zone, 2 of them literally in the endzone by unc. Sometimes you get a little lucky. The heels outplayed the cocks most of the night. So we should expect them to jump into the Top 10 next week? Isn't that how it works with USCe...never really earn their keep but get rewarded for it anyway?

The heels outplayed the cocks most of the night. If they only had a QB with a functioning brain... I place the blame as much on the coach as the quarterback, if not more. Down the stretch of that game, UNC had one player on the field who was simply beating the Gamecocks to death...and that was Elijah Hood. He basically ran it down the field to make it first and goal, and then...the coach takes him out of the game. They run first down with another runningback who gained a yard. Then a QB draw to the 4, then an inexplicable sack, and then...instead of kicking a field goal, they waste a time out, and go for it on 4th down...with the Cocks having 2/3s the defense a yard or two in the endzone making it incredibly tough to complete a pass to anyone...and it gets picked. Why Hood wasn't on the field to run it on first and/or second down is an absolute coaching blunder. Why he wasn't out there on 3rd down as at LEAST a decoy for play action wherein Williams took a sack is another. Calling time out to talk it over is a third. Not kicking the field goal is the fourth. Hat's off to Chizik...UNC's defense played well enough to win. They were gassed a little down the stretch and Carolina was able to make some plays, but overall, the Heels' defense made enough plays to win. As for TCU....the Gophers played well, but I'm not sure how many wide open touchdown passes Boykin can miss. Can you sense my frustration!?!?! I lost both bets last night and as I'm watching the game I'm thinking...there's no way I should be losing either of these, much less both... Sigh...1-2 out of the gate.

At least TCU didn't lose their opener by 14 to a similarly crappy team at home. The butt hurt is still strong, I see. As we proved last year, it isn't how you start, it's how you finish. I think TCU is a decent team but nowhere near the level you desperately want them to be and certainly not worthy of their lofty ranking. I have doubted them all summer. Some credit goes to Minnesota and Coach Kill for last night's performance but the fact is, TCU is just another also ran. They'll score a lot of points and make everyone ooh and aww but that will only mask their true identity. BTW, we know how you like to be factually correct and all. Unfortunately, you failed in that regard here so maybe you and Rox have more than the Gators in common? No one likes a bad troll. I was just pointing out how short of a memory bam has when he makes comments like that. Minnesota isn't a crappy team, but they aren't top 25 either. TCU? I learned last night the horney frogs have one 300 lb. DT and he missed the game due to injury. The defensive front 4 is woefully undersized for a team ranked #2 in the country. They may do well up until the playoffs if a well balanced or power running team doesn't take them down first, but the second best team in the nation they are not now and likely not when they get their one big DT healthy. Charley Pell once said "God smiles on teams with good defensive tackles." Charley was right over 30 years ago and he is still right today.

I have a soft spot for Kill and all that he has overcome but I realize they are going to struggle to score points. I think that defense will make them a Top 25 team eventually but they aren't now. Although... if their only blemish heading into conference play is a 6 point loss to the #2 team in the country, they may crack the Top 25 sooner rather than later.

2-1, TCU ended my long winning streak at 2 , and hoping Stanford and Notre Dame join South Carolina in destroying the 70% loser stat for this week when a super majority here predicts a winning team.

Yeah I would have given him the ball a few more times when they were inside the 10. As for tcu-minn don't forget that the gophers set up a sure td by fumbling inside their 15, and also fumbled away a sure td inside the 5. Both teams screwed up some. Did anyone else go 3-0 out of the gate? Pretty lucky I guess. . (I'm sure my come-uppence is down the road, but til then... )

As for anyone else who was 3-0....OldGrayLady. There are a mountain of folks at 2-1, and a few poor forgotten souls at 1-2. Nary a player has been skunked so far...so that means I'm tied for last. Both you and OldGray have Boise -12...so maybe the Huskies can keep it close to bring you both to the peloton.

Isn't that how it works with USCe...never really earn their keep but get rewarded for it anyway? i've thought for a long time that unc is a sleeping giant when it comes to taking the next step in cfb. the socio-economic growth in that region over the last quarter century should have started paying dividends for them in football by now. sometimes the more talented team doesn't play smart enough to win, and that was the heels problem last night. as for spurrier? after 6 years of mediocrity, he had 3 straight 11-2 seasons for a program that has had pretty fervent fan support despite a lack of success. imho i think there was an expectation that the cocks were ready to take that next step up to the sec top and were ranked according to those expectations. they've also only played alabama thrice in the last 11 years, lsu 3 times too (a 4th happens in october) in terms of division cross-over games, so they've had a break there too. but hbc lost a lot of offensive talent, sans cooper if his knee can heal up, from the last couple years. their qb's did not look good at all last night. the last 2 senior classes at usc-e have set school records for wins (42 and then 40)... maybe that is the top of their mountain as a program. he's now 70 years old (that's hard to believe) how much longer he'll want to keep coaching and recruiting.
