... and the indians have jumped 5 teams in the al wildcard race since 8/1/15. that's great, but they've only picked up 3 games because texas has been playing nearly as well. 67-69, 5 games out of the #2 slot. tribe is 18-10 the last 28 games. texas has the same record in that stretch. continue that pace, 17-9, and cleveland finishes 84-78. texas would have to play well under .500 ball, 11-16, to end up 83-79. not a high probability there. plus of those last 26 games, the tribe has 7 vs kc and 7 vs the twins who are still in the wildcard hunt 1 1/2 out. like how they're finishing the season, though.

The Tribe made the moves (of getting Swish and Bourne out) a few weeks too late. Tito stuck with Bourne much too long__He is loyal to a fault sometimes

Starting pitching hasn't been good this week, until last night, and Yost has been resting the regulars extensively, getting ready for the last push.

everytime i'm ready to give up on this season, the indians manage to stay on the fringe of a wild card slot. rangers loss/tribe win puts them back at 5 out. lindor had yet another 3 hit game, including a triple and hr, last night. he's had 7 3 hit games since getting called up after the all-star break. after batting around .200 for his first month, he's now #2 on the team at .309. and tomlin put his record at 5-1 since returning from surgery, even though he wasn't altogether sharp (3 runs in about 6 innings). but cleveland did stake him to a 4-1 lead by the 5th. nerd baseball stat of the night; when the indians have scored 4+ runs while their starting pitcher is still on the mound, they are now 41-2 this year.

tribe blew 2 run leads, twice, but michael brantley hits his 2nd straight dinger (2 run shot) of the game in the 8th to win it 7-5. 69-70, 4 games back. lonnie chisenhall had 3 assists in rf, 2 of them at the plate. first indian to do that since rick manning in '81. and remember when cleveland couldn't hit? tonite they got 10 hits for the 13th straight home game... first time since 1936. hangin' around....
