... 4 1/2 out of the last playoff spot. getting just a split vs the tigers yesterday hurt. bauer really has struggled the 2nd half of the season on the mound. lindor continues to shine... and cody anderson pitched real well in the opener. i hope the rained out game is one the tribe still needs to play at the end of the season. tall order having the royals on deck for 4 starting tonite...

Fielder pulled thru for the Rangers last night with a late inning jack__ so the Tribe is still 4.5 out

KC fans are getting nervous. After playing great baseball all year, the last ten games or so it seems nobody but Davis can throw out of the pen and Medlen has been the only starter to be decent. Hoping they come out of this slide pretty soon.

Hoping they come out of this slide pretty soon. cueto's certainly been a disappointment so far, it appears from here. given up 9 dingers in just 56 ip. i thought he'd be more of a positive addition for kc's staff. volquez seemed to have better control than he did the last time i saw him pitch vs cleveland... but he gave up a couple taters too. the urshela hr was a bomb to left center. still, royals had the bases loaded in the 6th, and 2 on w/2 runs in in the 7th... both situations where just one more hit maybe turns the game at that point. don't remember seeing medlen pitch vs the indians this year... will have to look that up. at least from a record standpoint, medlen vs josh tomlin, who's pitched well since coming off surgery on his shoulder in april, is an attractive matchup. tribe's 13-5 over the last 3 weeks. keeping up that pace would put them around 85-77, which probably won't be good enough (texas is 9 game over.500 now). they're putting together hitting, timely/2-out hitting and quality pitching... it just needed to start happening by june instead of august. but strange things can happen down the stretch... definitely happy to seeing cleveland finally playing consistently good ball.

Cuerto's first few games he was outstanding. His velocity looks good, actually is a tick up, but he is getting hammered every time he goes out now. They said at first they felt his front side was flying open causing his off speed stuff to flatten out, but they think they have that fixed. I noticed watching his last game that I thought it was going to be better. He looked to be throwing really good but then he got squeezed on two or three pitches at the knees and after that he elevated way too much. They have been in this funk for about ten games now, so I expect they will break out soon. Just too talented a team to play as they have recently.

I actually got a like from Bret Saberhagen on a Royals page. Everyone in KC is freaking out and I pointed out it seems so much worse because normally MLB teams hit a week or two skid at least a couple of times during a typical season and this seems so odd because they had gone all year without losing more than 2 games in a row maybe three times and then it was limited to three. They have just been so consistent. I've been worried because the back end of the bullpen, HDH, other than Wade Davis who is a machine, have had physical problems off and on all year. Holland has dropped from 97 mph to 90 to 91 on his fastball most of the time.

9th inning and KC up 2-0. Medlen pitched great and Davis the cyborg actually walked one but that was it. Use to be I was confident the game was over with Holly coming into the 9th with any lead. This year he scares me to death.
