Impressive. Cueto settled down after the 1st inning dinger and royals did what they're capable of doing at the plate. Hope they bring home the bacon this year.

That's the Cueto we were looking for in the trade. Eight innings, two hits, no walks and eight strike outs. The dinger was actually in the second, with two outs. Moose pulled his throw to first and pulled Hosmer off the bag. That would have been the third out and the guy who hit the homer would have led off the next inning. That's how close he came to a no hitter. First pitcher to retire the final nineteen hitters he saw since Don Larson in the 57 perfect game (in post season).

First pitcher to retire the final nineteen hitters he saw since Don Larson in the 57 perfect game (in post season). luis valbeuna. spent 2 or 3 years w/cleveland a while back. never had any kind of pop in his bat... he may not have had 25 homers total in his time w/the indians... and he had 25 w/the astros. forgot what inning he hit that out, but the better team won. if cueto can keep up that kind of performance, the royals are going to be very tough to beat in a 7 game series where he can get 2 or 3 starts.

I agree. Unfortunately because he threw last night he can't start until game three with the Jays. If we go six or more games he should get two starts. Volquez is set to start game one and Ventura in game two. Cueto gets the ball in Toronto in game three and it would not shock me to see Medlen go in game four as he is a low back/change up guy. Better chance to keep some of those Canadian big flies in the house.
