I didn't know Walt lived in Palos Verdes. I thought he lived in Manhattan Beach.
Walt must have some serious dinero.

You need more money to live in Manhattan than you do PV. I live between the two. The Lunada Bay surfers and their ilk are part of the reason I quit surfing. That generation of surfers, roughly born in the late 80s, early 90s, took a wonderful sport and turned it into shit.

What about some of those seaside mansions built on an acre or two up on the hill overlooking the ocean in Palos Verdes?
They looked mighty expensive when I walked around that neighborhood a few years ago. It was some sort of public space with a trail up on the bluffs.

PV is expensive, no doubt....but not if you measure it on a per/SF basis of either house or land. I haven't checked it lately, so I could be wrong, but Manhattan passed PV about 15 years ago and I've not heard of a reversal of that trend. Admittedly, however, I really haven't kept up on the fluctuations since the Great Recession kicked in. Suffice to say, Manhattan Beach is among the most expensive areas in LA County nowadays, rivaling Malibu and BevHills, and generally, what gets you a half acre up in PV gets you a postage stamp lot in the beach cities.
