no one's ever been a unanimous entry, on any ballot let alone his first. ken griffey jr has a shot today. tom seaver garnered the highest vote count, back in '92 (425 of 430; 98.84%). bonds, clemens, piazza, bagwell and raines are among the others on the ballot.

Haven't checked the news at this second but I doubt it. Some few, somewhere will believe no one gets in on the first.

Almost... 99.3% of the votes. Whoever the three voters were that left him off should be shot. Figuratively speaking, of course.
And huge kudos to the greatest hitting catcher of all-time on finally getting in. Well deserved.

No explanation, but a lot of the older writers always said Babe Ruth didn't get 100% of the vote that first year so nobody ever will.

As for the 99.3%...you're right that it has been kind of a tradition that nobody gets 100%, which is both silly and kind of cool all at the same time. If that tradition were not in place tons of guys would have had 100%...Mays, Aaron, Clemente, Mantle, Ryan, Maddux, DiMaggio, Williams just to name a few.

And like Harry said, it is kind of cool that no one has ever been unanimous.

As I said, early on the voters decided if Ruth didn't get 100% then nobody ever would deserve it. BTW, saw on Highly Questionable that Lebatard said he didn't vote for him because his vote was taken away and he was banned for life because he let Deadspin vote for him a few years ago. So he didn't vote at all. Technically he was correct, but, as he so often does, he was just playing games to see what people would say.

He and Bomani Jones are the reason to watch.

It's awful. yeah lebatard replaced cowherd not long after he announced he was moving over to fox. didn't agree all the time w/colin but thought he was much better on air than lebatard. if i'm in my car between 10 am-1 pm est during the week, i'm usually flipping over to the college sports channel on sirius. he seems to try so hard to be hip. and the misleading 'i didn't vote for griffey' thing, when he didn't have his vote any more... i think intentionally misleading his audience is not a good way to win them over.

Who does he think he is? Barack Obama? Obama has a hof vote? ?? Nah, he would just put someone he wanted into the Hall by Executive Order. <g> Now I apologize for even that much political talk.
