The best defense in the Nfl vs the best offense in the Nfl. Must see TV! The only explanation I can offer for Atlanta's win is the rivalry between the two teams and the fact that, as you know, it's very difficult to win Nfl games for any team and you rarely have the same types of blowouts as you do in Cfb. Honestly I have mixed emotions. I'm a Panthers fan for the past 15 years, but Manning is a class act and it would be a "feel good story" for Peyton to go out on top. I just don't know if Denver can score enough points, the Panthers have a very strong defense as well Carolina's d has been very very opportunistic. Great on turnover ratio. That's the key to me. Denver was great vs New England in protecting the ball. Do that vs the Panthers and they have a shot at winning, because that will force newton to go longer distances more often vs a real good Broncos defense. One other little tidbit. Nfl playoff teams who scored 40+ in the post season the previous game are just 4-23-1 ats the next game. Carolina played the perfect game vs Arizona. Tough to do that twice in a row. I'm already on Denver +4.5 and thinking hard about taking the money line on them too. Reminds me of the ny giants taking on Jim Kelly and the bills high flying offense back in the early 90s. Similar scenario imho Don't forget the NY Giants shocking the New England Patriots in that Super Bowl year when Tom Brady and Randy Moss broke all of those NFL offensive records going into the final game.

That may be the lowest ever for a winning super bowl team. But that defense battered newton and he looked genuinely confused throughout the game. Miller ware et al were outstanding. Congrats to the folks in the mile high city.

Carolinas' D played great too tonite, giving up only field goals and that late TD for which Denver only had to go 5 yds for the score___The Panthers offense? Why not roll Newton left or right and give him the option to rush or throw on offense.

He wasn't moving his left arm much after that shot.
He also took a major blow to the head from T.J. Ward on a QB draw play in the second quarter that was flagged for "unnecessary roughness."
IMO, he had a concussion after that hit by T.J. Ward, and looked a bit dazed and glassy-eyed.

I knew as soon as Newton came out for warmups with those gold MVP sneakers on, Carolina was doomed. His post game presser didn't help his (immature) image either.
Congrats to Peyton Manning on ring #2. He's always represented the game with class.

Bg(and thanks for the kind words on Manning...which I happen to agree with 100%<g>)VolFan

I saw the flag, but they didn't show us the foul-- so I assumed that they had flagged T.J. Ward for "spearing" on that tackle. In any case, it was a vicious hit on Cam Newton.
