Initially I was disappointed that VT would not have a chance to win the championship, but once I learned more about the format I decided that I was OK with it. After all, in spite of their recent success, early in the season they lost to two teams while they had 3 starters out. And every team out there had to face the same risk at some point in the season. That said, since all of these matches occur on B-10 home courts, I do feel that it gives them an unfair advantage. I would be in favor of a neutral site 3-day round of duals instead.

Does the site offer any insight as to who is invited, format, etc? That does seem a bit strange...

Here's another article that talks more about how this was decided... www.elevenwarriors.com/ohio-state-wrestling/2016/02/67874/wrestling-nwca-dual-championship-pairings-announced
