USC Basketball has rarely been a source of pride for Trojans over the years. They haven't had a top 10 team since I was a student there over 40 years ago. But last night USC demolished UCLA 95-71 to knock them out of the Pac12 tournament. It was the third straight win over the Bruins this year. Last time that happened was the same year Rick was explaining things to Ilsa and Captain Renault in a bar in North Africa.
WOOHOO!!

Walt,
Sometimes I get the distinct impression that you really hate UCLA.

WOOHOO!! you mean like the days of paul westphal? sc actually had quite a few pretty good teams back in those days... so did long beach state (with a couple guys from here in central ohio like ed ratliff) but the wizard of westwood just had too much talent.

Yep, the tandem of Westphal and Mo Layton at guards were awesome.....The 71 team was ranked #2 in the nation, behind the Bruins, and their only losses in a 24-2 season were....to the Sidney Wicks/Curtis Rowe/Henry Bibby Bruins. Back in those days, only one team from each conference went to the NCAA Tournament, so USC didn't even go. It was crazy...Imagine a March Madness today with only one team from each conference. As a sidenote, to give you an idea of the depth the Bruins had back then....we heard stories that the freshmen Bruins, who in those days were not allowed to play with the varsity, routinely beat the #1 ranked varsity squad in practice scrimmages that year....Bill Walton and Keith (Jamal) Wilkes were freshman... I remember seeing Ratliff play. LBState was coached by Tarkanian back then.
