yale knocking off baylor was a shocker. first ever ncaa tourney win for the elis, although in the last 4-5:00 you could see the lump swelling in their throats as it seemed they were just trying to get to 0:00 instead of continuing to run their offense. still cool to see that kind of history. purdue, on the other hand, just threw their game away vs ark-little rock. that's 2 wins by 12 seeds over 5's. toss is #11 wichita st beat #6 arizona pretty easily, and #11 gonzaga knocking off #6 seton hall (that one i wasn't as surprised about), that's 4 double digits seeds getting wins on day 1. yahoo sports says that 99.9% of those who filled out brackets on their site have at least one loss. and providence beat usc by a point on a layup where the trojans seemed to just forget to guard the guy on an inbounds pass. not a good day 1 for the pac 12 folks. i did think that indiana showed they are seeded a couple slots low in their blowout win.

sparty down at the half to mid tenn st 41-35. mtsu i think has made 8 3's. to say the least that would destroy my bracket. still 20:00 to go. and the struggles for the pac 12 continue. another double digit seed, #10 vcu, knocks off #7 oregon st 75-67. and cal just made a big spurt to get back in the game vs hawaii. down 47-45 w/11:00 left. pac-12 is now 1-4, w/cal and oregon still to play.

wow. the team i (and i'm guessing quite a few folks) had winning it all is out on the first day. #2 seed sparty loses to #15 seed mid tenn st 90-81. absolutely unbelieveable. msu never even led the entire game. down 15-2 early and had to try to crawl back the entire game. got as close as 3 a few times, but never got over the hurdle. i'm in shock.

Tonight was like watching teams that Bennett coached. Beyond fugly. They won but will get murdered Sunday.
