Matt-I received and read that Homeland Security book we talked about. For the most part, it's pretty benign. You want me to send it to you? If so, let me know by PM.

Homeland Security, TSA, FEMA...talks about 9/11, Horizon Deepwater and other stuff like that. Was actually pretty even handed and informative without really editorializing. IMO, no harm in children reading it. FWIW, it was written by a children's author.

but they are describing the official version of events. (thats a problem in itself to me). at the very least, they should have said that there were other theories and that many people did not believe the official story. the bigger issue is, why do kids need to learn about TSA, FEMA, homeland security, etc. in a scholastic book? were there pictures of security and law enforcement officers in the book? how did they appear? another question: would you want your grandchild to read this? (or child. ) i wouldnt want it even remotely in the childs head that at that age that we are living in a police state.

As for 9/11 they simply described it as a terrorist attack, didn't go into Muslims or Dancing Israelis. The cover photo is a cop that is kind of intimidating, but inside not really much...some firefighters, oil workers at Deepwater Horizon, Coast Guard, some border patrol as well. This booklet is an overview...a broad brush so to speak. Would have no problem with my kids reading it...to educate them on alternative theories and to dig deeper is something I would do with them.
