the 76ers drafted joel embiid about a month after i met my current wife. i dragged her to a local bar to watch the draft with me. it was probably our 3rd or 4th time hanging out together. she knew nothing about the nba but i think she enjoyed that i was so passionate about the draft (her first ever gift to me was a sixers jersey). i bought picklebacks for everyone at the bar. i was excited that we were getting an elite talent (at the time, everyone thought wiggins, parker and embiid would be stars).
anyway, tonight, joel embiid will be playing in his first nba game (assuming no stress fractures in the next 10 hours). crazy.
