Not Food, But...

I had an infected cyst on my back and the doctor took it off Wednesday. In the office surgery with a local anesthetic. It was much deeper than she thought and had to cut deeper than she planned. Hurt like Hell as she snipped and scraped for about 45 minutes. She remarked several times that she had never seen one as deep. Finally got it all done, put 4 stitches deep and 4 shallow. What does this have to do with food?Well, I'll tell you.
Apparently I was coming down with a cold or flu and Thursday I had chills and shivers all day and night. Had the heat up to 70 and wearing a fleece jacket and sweats indoors. Took a sleeping pill last night but tossed and turned all night. Today still cold and shivering.
Well, tonight I made a cup of hot green tea, added 4 spoons of honey, 3 oz of George Dickel, and juice of 1/2 lemon. I'm halfway finished with this cup, but I think I might need a second cup before bedtime.

Doesn't green tea contain caffeine? Can't you turn up your thermostat to about 75 until you feel better at least?

Caffeine doesn't affect my sleep. The George Dickel is better than a sleeping pill. I'm having chills and shivers. No one in the house is cold but me. The first cup is working. Will have another before bed. This is my grandmas recipe, except she used white lightning.

I had a molar and 2 wisdom teeth I should have had pulled years ago taken out a few weeks ago. I was prescribed some Vicodin, but it did nothing but make me feel like shit. Jack Daniels, however, was very effective.

I had an abcessed tooth in college. Spent a week chasing girls, easing the pain with Jack Daniels.

Just to update this story - Same chills and being cold all weekend. On Jan. 2, I went to a local doc-in-a-box. Everything else was closed for New Years except for the ER. Turned out I had a reaction to the antibiotic I was taking, and the cyst was infected as well. The doc there took out the stitches, drained lots of fluid, and sent me home, with a different antibiotic. Went back to my family doc several times and she cleaned the wound and watched it carefully. After 2 weeks it was fine.
My doctor sent me to a plastic surgeon to look at it. He said it is all healed but the wound is very deep and will not heal over. He will go in, clean out the scar tissue, and close the wound. Scheduled for mid-April. He's busy till then.
