Agree with you about the "chickenshit" aspect. The world wasn't going to come to an end for Trump if his ambassador to Podunk is a Democrat for a month or two.

The political appointee ambassadors all too often end up in London, Paris, Rome, or some other exotic location as a repayment for millions in donations to a campaign. Trump may still grant a few extensions for some of these families, but their return to their multi-million dollar CEO jobs will likely ease their burden. Most likely these appointees can easily afford to house their families in Europe for a few months. I'm sure springtime is a lousy time to be in Paris.
