Week 7: roadtonationals.com/results/standings/season/2019/7/0/51. Oklahoma 2. UCLA 3. Florida Florida's road win score of 197.30 at Alabama matched their lowest score of the year and dropped the Gators into 3rd .026 behind UCLA. It was the Gators first win in Tuscaloosa in 40 year (1979). The Gators did uncharacteristically poorly on the parallel bars and the beam. Florida had such a big lead heading into the last rotation on the beam that I think they relaxed too much after putting up an historical high score on the floor for away or home. The floor routines were dazzling. The Gators would have had to have 3 in the beam lineup to fall for Alabama to have had a chance. That didn't happen, but the Gators usually strong beam performances were lacking. The top 3 are far more likely to win the 2019 national championship that anyone ranked behind them. The chances of having all 3 to fall on their faces in the Super Six is zero. That's what it would take to open the door for anyone else. Going into the 2018 regional, UCLA came out of the 3 spot to win the national championship. The excuse du jour, Gators just didn’t want to be there for the final rotation. Sad!

Repeated and in agreement with what the announcers said at the end of the meet. They also said that the Gators appeared too celebratory after their floor routines. I see Oklahoma continues to have trouble with their Achilles heal, the beam. It's the one event that can keep the sooners from winning it all in 2019. Florida is in a similar position with the vault. Here is to hoping that the Gators can get better on the vault than the sooners can get on the beam. UCLA? I can't wait to see them in Norman on ESPN in two weeks. They must have some weakness, but I haven't seen them or looked at their seasonal scoring to know. Regardless of any UCLA weakness, there is no way the judges will allow the sooners to lose in Norman. What's good about the NCAAs is the use of neutral sites, 4 critical eyed judges on each event, and a chance for subjective fairness that isn't easily found at home or on the road during the season, at least for the top 3 whom everyone believes are good enough to become national champion.

You're in a good mood today, glad to see you realize I'm just messing with you. Quite a few good teams out there, should be interesting as hell in Fort Worth. Hope OU is there...they "should" be, but ya never know. And it's a different regional format this year, so who knows how that will impact things?
