Burt Prelutsky doesn't write for the LA Times.
He was canned probably 10-12 years ago, (and even when he worked for them, he wrote for the entertainment section, not the editorial or op-ed section. He's the 1980s newspaper equivalent of Access Hollywood).

This goes back to 2013 and it's not even close. One, it involves an "assault" rifle exemption, when a ban was being discussed. Her comments didn't involve all firearms. She also commented that the proposed amendment should include a provision for screening out "mentally incapacitated" veterans, PTSd etc IF AN EXEMTION was to be awarded. IF A BAN was passed. The same consideration that seems to, for many reasons, be difficult to do for the general public. They wouldn't be treated differently than any other citizen and they shouldn't be. Nor should they be awarded any exemptions. But the ban never took hold so this is all moot. Her concerns for those that have issues is valid, as concerns most have re Joe citizen. Most understand the challenges. and she never said all vets are mentally ill.

Yeah, but she said PTSD is relatively new, and we KNOW that is bullshit.  Since she can't get that right, there is no reason to believe she gets anything right.
