owners' vote was supposedly 31-1 in favor of the move, w/the dolphins being the only dissenter. business leaders in oakland put together a $1.3b stadium plan that roger goddell called insufficient and not viable. the vegas plan is $1.9b, $750m of which comes from public financing. the casino big wheel sandy adelson had promised $650m in investments then backed out. bank of america ended up taking his place. if you're a raider fan, i don't know how you can keep supporting the davis family ownership after they've constantly either moved or threatened to move the franchise down thru the years. similar to the scenario when modell moved the browns 20+ years ago, you have an owner whose only business entity is the football team. like modell, like georgia frontiere, who'd already been married 5 times and whose business experience totaled being a doctor's secretary, an actress and a tv personality before eventually marrying carroll rosenbloom, hubby #6, and inheriting the rams upon his death, owners who have no other business interests are more likely to be wooed, or try to leverage outside wooing, to get sweetheart deals from communities who have been sold for generations on their emotional investment being absolutely necessary. it blows.

It's extortion. If these NFL moguls don't get taxpayer-funded mega-stadiums, they re-locate.
Green Bay has the right idea-- community ownership. Franchises FOR the people that are owned BY the people.

Franchises FOR the people that are owned BY the people. green bay's 'community' ownership is in name only. the 360k 'stockholders' of the packers have no power whatsoever in how the team is run. the team has a board of directors, from which an exec committee makes most of the decisions and only the ceo/president of the exec committee is actually paid a salary. back in the early days of the nfl a lot of small communities had that kind of ownership, but as the league grew and the decaturs and portsmouths became the bears and the lions, et al, it went away everywhere except green bay, and the nfl grandfathered the community ownership in, even though its not allowed for any other franchise. couple snippets. some people know that back in the early 20's the nfl was born up in canton. what many don't know is that the nfl hq for about two decades, right up until ww2, was here in columbus before it got moved to chicago.

Who chooses the Packers' Board of Directors? Does the Green Bay community, ultimately, have the power to prevent the Packers from re-locating to, say, San Jose?

ALL of the proceeds from the sale have to be used for a vet memorial. No one would benefit from a sale. The BOD members are nominated and voted on at the annual shareholder's meeting. The list of candidates is included in proxy information sent to more than 360,000 shareholders in advance of the their annual meeting. Currently there are 42 members on the board, I think. I'm pretty close, off by not more than a cpl. Most are rotated off at some point but maintain directors emeriti until death.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Bay_Packers_Board_of_DirectorsExec Committee has only one being paid, the Pres Mark Murphy, w the balance serving gratis.

As for the Las Vegas Raiders, they will feature the NFL's first cheer leading hookers-- available during the games for sky box customers.
They will also feature live Raiderette sex acts on the field for half-time entertainment-- "The Foot Long Las Vegas Hot Dog," "Chocolate Sandwich," and much, much more!!
