We have a Civil War era Spencer carbine in the family that I played with as a kid at my Dad's parent's house. My grandmother had Spencer ancestors, but I imagine that was just a coincidence. Anyway, the fullcock sear was damaged, so it never functioned properly for years. It has since been repaired and is shootable, but Spencer cartridges are very expensive. I think it would be a BLAST to shoot! The sucker is heavy, and you can put your thumb down the muzzle.

They are probably dead anyway by now.
My older brother (who else? ) has the gun, and he is very protective of true heirlooms. I'll just have to bide my time, and then it will be handed down to our younger brother, assuming Father Time keeps us in order.

Is "RIFLE" the word for "LIBERAL" in some foreign language? (and there's definitely more than ONE)
