since the comparisons come up around here so often, I thought you might be interested in how the Army describes its basic weapon(s)...
Promotion Knowledge
Describe the M16-/M4-series weapon
They are a lightweight, 5.56-mm, magazine-fed, gas-operated, air-cooled, shoulder-fired rifle or carbine capable of firing in a variety of modes that include semi-automatic, automatic and burst, depending on the model.

That a lot of words to say "evil black assault weapon that can kill 100's of school kids with one high capacity clip and a shoulder thing that goes up"...
On a lighter note, I'm surprised direct impingement is not part of the description to distinguish the M16/M4 from piston driven AR's.

Guys use specially set-up long range AR's (like bam's hbar) with Nightforce scopes and the like, and lighter bullets specifically made to expand immediately upon penetration to make groundhog heads explode at 600 yards, YES!!!

As I told my guys...when you begin bitching, remember your government only buys you the best...offered by the lowest bidder... And that's why I own a Ruger Mini-14. Better operating action, although it does have a bit more recoil because of the heavier components needed to counteract the greater amount of gas needed to operate the mechanism. The Garand style mechanism is also closer to "self-cleaning" (which actually doesn't exist) than the dirty direct impingement action. The internal parts aren't exposed to the same high heat gasses as DI, which means their failure rate is lower, and routine replacement of parts intervals are longer.

Fags like you should keep their faggy mouths shut when they know not of what comes out of their hole. Maybe you should look up direct impingement gas operating systems and then STFU.

Then why are you denying they are dirty and need more routine maintenance. lubrication, and replacement of parts sooner than superior operating systems? You know it is true! You don't build them. You put parts together. An 80 per center BUILDS them.

I thought I told you to keep your hole shut? Truth hurts, huh? You can tell me anything you want, but you control me about as much as Walt's unicorns do.
Try building an AK. Then you can learn what a TRULY reliable operating system is.
