w/kels getting married over the weekend, didn't have a chance to share my thoughts on game 2 of the caps-pens series. 3rd period, hainsey goes out to block a cap shot and turns his body as the puck is hit. it appears to strike him up on the base of the back of his head, which is exposed and not protected by the helmet. he immediately goes down. referees IMMEDIATELY stop play, even though the puck was still bouncing toward the blue line. sure was a different reax than when werenski got struck by a puck, breaking his face in two places and gushing blood, and the pens scoring 0:10 later as he was trying to get off the ice.

Well, the officials just don't like Florida ... oops, wrong sport.

Consistency has always plagued the NHL in terms of officiating. It is most evident in the decisions rendered by the Dept. of Player Safety, which defy logic in a lot of cases. It all depends on who you are and what sweater you pull over your pads... such as Niskanen end getting a 5 and game for his cross check to Crosby's chops. I guess that was your point so that is a long way to say I agree. And speaking of the Ovechkin shot that hit Hainsey... the Pens were up in arms about it being intentional and looking at the replay, it is hard to disagree with them.
