I bought some sorghum syrup last week from a maker that has been making sorghum and cane syrup for about 75 years in the same location. The grandson of the founder is now running the show. He still puts his syrup in quart metal cans (like a paint can), prints the labels on the same old printer his grandpa used, and fastens the label on with a rubber band, just like grandpa. He also spells syrup "surp" like grandpa did. The label reads "Pure Sand Mountain Sorghum Surp" They also make "Pure Sand Mountain Cane Surp"

Green maple syrup? Do you mean color or age? Was it the same consistency as split pea soup?

It's called "living". My parents bought from the grandfather when I was a kid. It still tastes like I remember it from then. I eat sorghum on biscuits about once a month so I think it is probably not too harmful to me. Of course I eat 6 or 8 biscuits when I have them, but still...

I'm still tickled at how the Anderson's bit went right over Walt's head.
