Forgot to mention it but there was a major shooting/suicide at a big UPS hub here in SF yesterday. I was watching the news last night and a cop was making a statement to the press and he said the assailant was armed with "an assault pistol"...
What the flying FFUKK is an assault pistol!

Here is my OPINION (emphasis on "opinion") of the matter:
"Assault pistol" is a total bullshit term. "Assault" in combat terms is an offensive action. I love handguns, but if I am going to attack the enemy, I am going to use a RIFLE or a selective fire submachinegun.
A handgun is a close range defensive weapon by design.
If I were marketing firearms to civilians, no way would I label any of my guns "Assault ANYTHING." That word screams aggression and fuels anti-gun nuts' imaginations.

I guess they only had AK's for "home protection" from the other thugs. What we usually caught them with were cheapass Ravens, RG's and HiPoints, and on occasion, good quality guns that were stolen. |
