On this July 4th, as we celebrate the "bombs bursting in air," let us also remember that the CIA and the U.S. military-industrial complex (MIC) have killed more than 20 million people (in 37 nations) since WWII.
It is a staggering statistic that is not very well known in the U.S.-- partly as a result of the careful suppression of information about many U.S. military ops in our mainstream media. That's just flat stupid. No chance that is anywhere close to accurate, and even if it was, apparently, everything anyone does anywhere in the world is part of the US MIC.

Walter,
The author has a lot of references to back up his numbers, though, they look higher than I had thought. He is including casualties in the Soviet-Afghan War-- which was heavily funded by the CIA on the Mujahedin side. He also includes casualties from a total of 37 different countries where the CIA was involved in funding right wing dictatorships-- Indonesia, in 1964 (1,000,000) Angola, Pakistan, Congo, Sudan, Somalia, Ethiopia, Chile, Brazil, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, etc., Iraq I and Iraq II... Cheggidout.
In the Untold History of the United States, Peter Kuznick and Oliver Stone mentioned 4 million killed in Korea and another 4 million in Southeast Asia.

Don't be naive. The CIA played a major role in funding the Taliban's war against the Soviet-backed government in Kabul.
One of the CIA's main assets in the Taliban revolt against Kabul was Tim Osman-- aka Osama Bin Laden.*
FBI whistle blower Sibel Edmonds has claimed that Bin Laden was working for the CIA before and after 9/11.
(Bin Laden's brother was a major investor in George W. Bush's Arbusto Oil company-- and, as everyone knows by now-- was dining with George H.W. Bush at a Carlyle Group luncheon in D.C. on 9/11.)
* Reagan helped create the Taliban and Osama Bin Laden. Reagan fought a proxy war with the Soviet Union by training, arming, equipping, and funding Islamist mujahidin fighters in Afghanistan. Reagan funneled billions of dollars, along with top-secret intelligence and sophisticated weaponry to these fighters through the Pakistani intelligence service. The Talbian and Osama Bin Laden — a prominent mujahidin commander — emerged from these mujahidin groups Reagan helped create, and U.S. policy towards Pakistan remains strained because of the intelligence services’ close relations to these fighters. In fact, Reagan’s decision to continue the proxy war after the Soviets were willing to retreat played a direct role in Bin Laden’s ascendancy.

Rather than trying to shut down a debate-- and violating the First Amendment--tell us where the study got it wrong.
Imitate Walter, for a change. His argument is that their methodology was flawed-- e.g. attributing Soviet Afghan casualties to the U.S.
My counterargument is that the CIA funded the Taliban's insurrection.
Are you capable of engaging in a non-moronic discussion?

If you want to use a dumb method like that, then the counter argument is that had it not been for the USSR, the US would never engaged in all the cold war proxy conflicts, so the dead are blood on Soviet hands, not American hands. They killed 20 million, not us. If America is responsible for a Russian killing an Afghan because the CIA funded the opposition...guess who funded Viet Nam against America? So all those deaths are on the Russian ledger, not ours. See how @utterly stupid your conspiracy clown show website is?
