I agree with you there. I was referring to the empty hand techniques used before the gun has to be drawn, and the options of using different techniques in that regard. I guess we had a miscommunication on that point. Not much 'technique' in grabbing the bad guy's gun with my left, while a spilt second later, throwing a Susy Q. with my right, then pulling my weapon and unloading on him. IF, and I admit, it's an IF, the Susy Q. lands where it supposed to, there'll be no need to pull my weapon. Here. I'll show you what a proper 'Susy Q. looks like. The punch starts at the 25 second mark. Devastating. Marciano was wearing boxing gloves, AND he was Marciano, AND he was only 29 years old. Even WITH gloves on, boxers have broken their hands on skulls. Not recommended with bare knuckles, AND ..... he could block or slip your punch. His off hand is still free, remember? I had a Police Chief who punched a guy in a bar. (Don't ask the details LOL) Anyway, he cut one of his knuckles on the guy's tooth and it got infected. He had to have an artificial knuckle put in, and that finger remains stiff to this day. But it's YOUR hand. Do as you wish.
Learn the disarming technique, and you don't even need to draw your own gun because you have HIS gun. He's not going to try to shoot you with his finger, especially if you happened to break it when removing his gun from his hand. As long as his gun remains in HIS hand, it is a threat to you.
But the usual disclaimer: I am saying what I would do. What you do is entirely up to you. The ONLY way I will strike a person in the head will be with a ridge hand, a brick, stick, or my gun, but NEVER with a fist. Ridge hand to the temple can be fatal.

I DID say 'IF' the Suzy Q. lands where it is supposed to..which would be the tip of the nose. As far as I know, there's no teeth in the nose. I admit a lot can go wrong but if I have a death grip on his weapon, I'm not letting go. If I break my fist on his face, oh well. but I'm thinking his face will break before my fist does... I do sometimes go a few rounds on the heavy bag with nothing but a pair of garden gloves on, just to strengthen the fists and wrists. Although when I do that, it's nothing but jabs and straight rights. Knuckle push-ups on gravel are also a way to do that. I do those too. Bottom line is, that when a person is faced with a dangerous situation like having a gun put in their face, most likely they will act on instinct, and their training, if they have any. There is no time to think, you only react, on instinct. You have to be faster than greased lightning. Any slower, or if you pause and think about it, you could be eating a bullet or two.

Well one thing you've convinced me of is that I DON'T want to stand and try to trade punches with you. I might miss a block and that could ruin my whole day.
Seriously, try Marx's technique. With a little practice, you shouldn't need to punch the guy OR draw your own gun, unless his is a fake and he knows it. I'm not gonna take a chance. Unless it looks like a Super SoakerTM , I'm going to assume the gun is real and act accordingly.

I Have a go at it and see if I can get it down to where it feels like I could do it as an instinct. and you're right, EVERYTHING takes practice. Somethings, more practice ( obviously ) than others.

The good news is, if you practice it and it just isn't working for you, at least you didn't wait to find out against a loaded gun.
I think the BEST thing to do if you are facing a loaded gun and a bad guy is to give him anything he wants and try to remember every detail about him.. If you sense things are about to go south, then do anything and everything you can think of. Even being shot doesn't mean you are dead. Fight, fight, and fight some more.

Funny, I just watched a show a little while ago about the Briley gang. Three thug brothers and some friends. They are all total ANIMALS. Thankfully 2 of the bastards were executed.
They were BORN KILLERS. Watch the whole thing and you will be enraged.

A bullet between the eyes is way too good for any of the bastards but IF it were legal to do, I would pull the trigger on any one of them in a heartbeat. Sorry pricks.
