A new business is opening here in Guntersville, Al. Sure Shot Basketball Academy will offer league games and training for basketball and volleyball. There will be three full length courts for basketball and volleyball. Rather than buy and install new floors, used ones were bought and refinished. Except for one. The floor from the 2006 NCAA title game in Indianapolis, and later the home floor for the Florida gators, was purchased from Florida and is now installed here. The director, Jonathan Hyde, said he will leave the Florida floor as is for as long as possible. The other two floors came from colleges in Minnesota and Michigan, and the wood surrounding the three courts came from Rucker Park, a public park in New York City where some of the college legends honed their game as kids. If et wants to come by and see it I'll treat him to BBQ and a beer or two.

The ODome was gutted and renovated last year. Everything is new. I'm glad UF was able to find a home for the floor. 2006 is the year the Gators beat UCLA for the national championship. UF bought the floor and brought it to the ODome where it remained until the renovation. I don't know what was done with the 2007 national championship floor used in Atlanta when the Gators beat the bucknuts.
