Nice shot although I really don't like Glock sights for any kind of a distance shot.

Nice shot although I really don't like Glock sights for any kind of a distance shot. One shot, one kill, under pressure and fear. It don't get no better than that. I'm more interested in what caliber and type of ammo was used. Funny ........ according to Wikipedia, the dept. issues S&W M&P .40's, but that sure looks like a Glock in the video. Maybe I'm wrong. If I am, hats off to S&W and the individual officer.en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlotte-Mecklenburg_Police_Department If you practice with and learn the sights on your gun, it really doesn't matter what they are. That's another argument FOR fewer guns and fixed sights on them. Each gun shoots differently, and fixed sights are damn near impossible to knock out of line once they are adjusted properly.

You're right, it looked like a Glock to me too but now I don't think it's a Glock after trying to zoom in on the stills. Looks like three dot sights which would NOT be standard Glock sights.

Look at it again, I think it IS a Glock. Sights can be changed, and some agencies allow that. The giveaway to me is the perfectly square beck of the slide. Freeze it at 00:26. The rear of an M&P slide is angled forward like a 1911. The grip tang appears to be smaller too, as it would be on a Glock.
The article said the department ISSUES M&P's; it didn't say the department REQUIRES them. The LSP has a list of approved weapons that troopers can choose from, presumably at their owe expense..

No shit sherlock on the sights. And I never said it was an M&P. I need to do some comparisons to determine what gun the officer used in the shooting but a couple of still shots were leading me away from Glock, not just the non-standard sights.

I am the one who suggested it was an M&P, based on the Wikipedia bullshit. I SHOULD know better than to trust Wikilpedia.
Whatever the gun is, it is striker-fired with a perfectly squared off slide rear. Since Glocks dominate the striker fired police pistol market in the U.S., I'm sticking with Glock. The percentages would support that, IMHO. The floorplate of the magazine supports the Glock theory, too. Most other mags are bulky at the bottom. Slide serrations -- rear only and perfectly vertical --- Glock.

Agreed, but requires further investigation and possible interrogation.

All reasons why I instantly recognized as Glock. Still need to corroborate but I'm heavily leaning toward the usual G22.

All reasons why I instantly recognized as Glock. Still need to corroborate but I'm heavily leaning toward the usual G22. I've been looking. Some agencies will officially publish their list of weapons. Others won't. I haven't found an official list from CMP yet.
All I know for a fact is that MY agency when I was there issued and approved a S&W .40 cal. piece of shit ONLY. I don't remember the model number. 4046TSW I think. It had the improperly named "Double Action Only" trigger system that I hated. You can't make consistently accurate shots with that long heavy trigger pull. I shit you not........... by the time I pulled the trigger 15 times in rapid sequence, my finger was getting tired and weak!
The only other FACT I know is that LA State Police approve of just about any quality handgun of .38 Special caliber or better. I DON'T know if that list is for their troopers or for any police officers who go through their training, but I have qualified with my S&W 645, my Glock 30S, and this last time with my Colt Combat Commander in .45 ACP. (You will notice there is ONE constant among all the guns I qualify with.)
I'm sure between the two of us, we will eventually positively identify that gun. And even though I know sights can be changed, this one does not seem to have Novak style angled rear sight.
