As for me, I'm just checking my piggy bank to see if another Mini-14 magazine is in my future. I only have 2, and if there is a downside to the Ruger, it is the fact that they use only Ruger style mags, and those are NOT cheap.
Or should I buy a set of .223/5.56 reloading dies, which would then also require the purchase of suitable warheads, powder and primers? My brother who is an avid handloader, says it is not practical to reload .223's, with the easy availablilty of cheap factory loads. I'm not a hunter or target shooter, so I don't need precision just loads, just the ones that go bang and send a little pill downrange for fun. And they are certainly accurate enough for social work. The cheapest .223 you'll find is around a quarter a pop. I save all my good .223 brass. What do you do with it?
