Backpedaling duly noted. And if the good folks in da hood can scrape up $150 for a Hi-Point to plug a thug, more power to them.

No backpedaling involved. In my original reply I was talking about one thing and you were thinking another. Then it was off to the races again.

Just pluck down the money and get yourself a G19. Your concealed carry problems are over. God forbid you ever need a firearm to defend yourself or loved ones, or anyone else for that matter, But if you do, you have more than enough fire power to do the job required. Carry an extra mag and you have over 30 rounds at your disposal. I don't carry an extra mag on my person but that's just me. I feel I'm a good enough shot that I don't have to.

Well at least you had enough good sense to go with a Glock. and I ALWAYS carry what I want. Like I said, I don't carry an extra mag on my person, but I do always have an extra 15 and 33 round mag close by... you know, vehicle, home, work, etc.... how many extra mags did you say you carry..?..

Like I said, I don't carry an extra mag on my person, but I do always have an extra 15 and 33 round mag close by... you know, vehicle, home, work, etc.... how many extra mags did you say you carry..?.. I normally don't carry any extra mags. I have during the times when the heat was on around here (protests against cops in B.R.). I have either 10 or 11 shots of .45ACP available with one mag. Most self-defense shootings are not prolonged gun battles. If you haven't neutralized your adversary or gotten yourself out of harm's way with 11 shots, it just isn't your day. You should have been carrying a shotgun.
Remember, a cop's job is to engage and capture the bad guy. Your job is only to SURVIVE. If you emptty your gun and the bad guy runs away, YOU WIN. The cops will probably get him later on. Just be a good living witness.
Now the reason I SHOULD carry an extra magazine is in case of malfunction. If your gun jams, what caused it? The chances of you having TWO faulty magazines are slim to none. Changing mags eliminates one problem. Wrongly, I gamble that my mag that hasn't let me down yet won't let me down in a firefight, either. I am betting my life on it, which admittedly is stupid.
If you aren't carrying that extra mag on your person, it is useless."Wait a minute, bad guy! I have to go to my car (back bedroom, back into the house, in my range bag, my office desk) and get my spare magazine. Hold on, I'll be right back ............" Ummmmmmm .............. NO. That's like a pilot putting his parachute in the baggage compartment.

I guess when those are gone, you throw that .45 at 'em... LMAO! "Never far way" is TOO far if it isn't ON you. How do you propose getting to that other mag if the bad guy is waiting to pop you when you come out from cover?
Well, let's see................. In 27 years as a police officer, I don't think I ever fired my gun more than twice in any one incident. Usually it was only one shot. The one time I was shot at, I didn't have time to draw my gun and shoot back, which was a good thing. The guy who shot at me was an old man who was working Port Security. He missed me by a good three inches from about 50 yards away, hitting the windshield of the detective's car who I was talking to at the time. No charges were filed, and the goofy old man was allowed to retire from the Port Authority.
Interesting statement from a Portland P.D. officer involved shooting study:"- There appears to be a relationship between the amount of ammunition a weapon holds and a tendency to shoot more. Twelve officers firing six-shot revolvers fired an average of 2.6 times each. Nineteen officers using semiautomatic pistols with capacities ranging from eight to 18 rounds shot an average of 4.6 times apiece." So you folks who like all those bullets have a tendency to "over shoot." Spray and pray. But you will notice there was no apparent need to fire more than 10 or 11 shots. I have enough to do the job.www.theppsc.org/Archives/DF_Articles/Files/Oregon/92-Oregonian_Study.htmI base what I feel I need on real life. As I said, the only realistic need for a 2nd mag is if you have a malfunction, or you run your gun dry shooting at God knows what. And that mag better be ON your body.
Carry a belt-fed machine gun if you think that's what you need. Do you really think the average criminal is going to stick around after the first 2 or 3 shots have been fired? Unless he has a specific intent to kill you (hit man, revenge, elimination of witnesses) he is generally NOT gonna hang in and shoot it out with you.

I'll stick with my 16 shots, with a 33 mag close by if needed.. thank you.

Rox, please do not challenge the forum's foremost gun authority's superior intellect. It is unbecoming for a mere civilian, as you and I are. And do NOT question his superiority in the realm of musical opinion as well. There are a million guitarists in bar bands who blow Jimi Hendrix away. In fact, do not question anything Mutt says for he is the last word on anything he chooses to pontificate on, dammit boy.
