LMAO! "Never far way" is TOO far if it isn't ON you. How do you propose getting to that other mag if the bad guy is waiting to pop you when you come out from cover?Well, let's see.................
In 27 years as a police officer, I don't think I ever fired my gun more than twice in any one incident. Usually it was only one shot.
The one time I was shot at, I didn't have time to draw my gun and shoot back, which was a good thing. The guy who shot at me was an old man who was working Port Security. He missed me by a good three inches from about 50 yards away, hitting the windshield of the detective's car who I was talking to at the time. No charges were filed, and the goofy old man was allowed to retire from the Port Authority.
Interesting statement from a Portland P.D. officer involved shooting study:
"- There appears to be a relationship between the amount of ammunition a weapon holds and a tendency to shoot more. Twelve officers firing six-shot revolvers fired an average of 2.6 times each. Nineteen officers using semiautomatic pistols with capacities ranging from eight to 18 rounds shot an average of 4.6 times apiece."
So you folks who like all those bullets have a tendency to "over shoot." Spray and pray. But you will notice there was no apparent need to fire more than 10 or 11 shots. I have enough to do the job.

I base what I feel I need on real life. As I said, the only realistic need for a 2nd mag is if you have a malfunction, or you run your gun dry shooting at God knows what. And that mag better be ON your body.
Carry a belt-fed machine gun if you think that's what you need. Do you really think the average criminal is going to stick around after the first 2 or 3 shots have been fired? Unless he has a specific intent to kill you (hit man, revenge, elimination of witnesses) he is generally NOT gonna hang in and shoot it out with you.
More than twice, huh... well then, why don't you go buy yourself a derringer... since you don't need but two shots... makes sense, right..?.. I'll stick with my 16 shots, with a 33 mag close by if needed.. thank you.
"Carry a belt-fed machine gun if you think that's what you need." It's a free country.
I am basing my decision on my real life experiences, and I have no doubt you are basing your decision on YOUR real-life deadly force encounters, too. How many of those did you say you have been through again? I forgot.
