Hendrick Motorsports will move the entire #24 team (driver, crew, and cars) to No 9 in 2018. So chase Elliott will sport his daddys famous number 9 on the circuit once again.
For those that don't know the history of that number, the distance from the outskirts of Dawsonville, Ga., to Dahlonega, Ga., is 13 miles of 2 lane twisting country road The Dawsonville boys had a challenge, and a pot of cash, to anyone that drove it in under 9 minutes. Word is that young Bill was the first to win the pot, and took that number when he went into racing.
William Byron will move to the Monster Cup (I still think of it as Winston Cup) into the former #5 car driven by Kasey Kane, and that car will be number 24.
There are still a number of name drivers without a ride for 2018.
