chiming in late here.........for in-home use, 20-30feet, BB is too large . #6 shot 1 1/4 oz load. Myth Busters did a segment on this, # 6 shot, 00 buck, and slug into a 50gal aquarium(s) from normal room distance. the only one that went through the aquarium was the #6 shot. Assuming the aquarium is a bad guy, I WANT my projectiles to stay in it. Anything that passes through carries with it energy that was not expended on the target. You want ALL the energy dump IN the bad guy, not in the wall behind him.
I'm also assuming Remington knew what they were doing when they stuck BB shot in their Home Defender loads. They've been loading and testing shotgun loads a lot longer than I have. I am NOT going to say the load I use is "the best" because I don't know that. If I get down to the shotgun which is my 3rd choice of weapon, things have probably gone to shit anyway.
Dogs don't scare them off. 20 rounds of .45ACP don't stop 'em (11 from the Glock + 9 from the 645). 30 rounds of 5.56 hasn't stopped 'em. Now I'm down to my shotgun. This is NOT going to be a good day for me.

As soon as they lay down somewhere perm, time to clear the herd. We have always shot birds together and clays. Pistols also. My oldest is tight w a Chem E educated in Fl at FSU. Funny how people hook up. She doesn't enjoy shooting any of my pistols but loves shooting a S&W 686 revolver, which she grew up shooting in Fl. And she's pretty good for a Chem E. Don't let the eggheads fool you. There's a guy in my taekwondo class who is one of those brainiac chemist types -- 2nd or 3rd degree black belt --- and he doesn't know how to go easy. He'll seriously hurt you just practicing!!
And any girl who likes the 686 is a keeper!!! She's a sweetheart, w an A+ personality and she looks like she could be a twin sister to Helen Hunt of Twister fame.

No disrespect meant to Mrs. Daleko by my crude remark.

No disrespect meant to Mrs. Daleko by my crude remark. She isn't my wife but my eldest boy's companion. Striking couple. He at 6'4+" , with the typical swimmers build and she at 5'8" and athletic slim. Two engineers, he getting her into more outdoor stuff, she getting him into more social stuff. They make a great pair and they have fun being w each other. They're both lucky. Shocked me the first time she went shooting with us and handled a 686 w/o a problem. And she has me rooting for FSU and I having her root for Wisky.

My wife is 6 feet tall, and USED to look almost exactly like Lynda Carter in her "Wonder Woman" days. We don't get out and shoot much together any more, but when we do, she can hold her own with me. And she does all her shooting one-handed. She has no choice.
