“Your training is not going well, man. I got a plan.” “Thank God!” “You’re gonna learn how to suck dick.” “What? That’s your plan?” “All I’m sayin’ is when life throws you dick, you make dickade.” “Dickade doesn’t sound like a significant improvement over dick.”will farrell/kevin hart movie, but can't remember the title. 21-21-3 entering the week...Already at the 1/3 point in the year. WEEK 4All games are on Saturday, 23SEP17 Rankings noted are AP Poll rank 1. #17 MISSISSIPPI STATE (3-0) +6 at #11 GEORGIA (3-0) - [Opened UGA-6]bulldogs haven't won between the hedges in 61 yrs. msu looked good holding lsu's run game in check. they'll need the same effort vs chubb, plus uga's d has looked good so far this yr. trends don't favor either group; teams off an upset win over lsu are just 18-30 ats since '80, while the dawgs are just 11-16 ats in sec openers. when in doubt, go with more cowbell. mississippi state.2. #20 FLORIDA (1-1) -3 at KENTUCKY (3-0) - [Opened UF-4]as noted elsewhere, the nation will miss this traditional battle, which features the longest current win streak in a series in the fbs. read where the 'cats win over usc-e last week marked the 1st time since bear bryant was in lexington that uk has beaten a sec foes 4 straight times other than vandy. wow. normally this would be a prime spot to fade a road favorite off such an emotional win, especially when that td pass was the 1st the offense had earned in nearly 2 full games. but kentucky has been awful as home dogs (3-11-2 ats), and just as bad when getting less than 10 at home (1-4 ats). plus teams with good d's on the road, especially w/a small number, are comforting. florida.3. #5PENN STATE (3-0) -12.5 at IOWA (3-0) - [Opened PSU -12.5]big 10 opener for both. sly use of time outs helped the nitts shutout georgia st last week, while the hawkeyes survived north texas but saw their 2 best rb's get dinged up. heard a scout on the radio this am call psu's barkley a better pro rb prospect than zeke elliott (similar frame w/a little more speed), and their d is improved over last year. but every trend favors the host; 7-3-1 ats latest getting pts at home, 9-3 ats w/big 10 revenge, 5-1 ats getting 4+ at home, 7-1 ats the last 8 times they were getting 7+ at home w/revenge. iowa.4. #8MICHIGAN (3-0) -10 at PURDUE (2-1) - [Opened UM -10.5]boilers one of the nation's surprise teams after thrashing mizzou and scaring louisville. they also scheduled the ugly hats as their ' 17 homecoming game. ballsy. pu just 4-19 ats lately as home underdogs, but um is only 5-13 ats as road chalk and continues to sleepwalk inside the redzone on offense. but as i mentioned above w/uf, good defenses work well on the road, and i think the o is due. michigan.5. NOTRE DAME (2-1) -4.5 at MICHIGAN ST (2-0) – [Opened ND -4.5]irish finished strong at bc after leading by just 1 in the 3rd. nd rushed for 500+ last week, 422 vs temple. but vs a good d (georgia)? try just 55. and sparty's front 7 may be better than uga's. notre dame is just 2-9-2 ats as road chalk vs msu, 7-11 ats as away favorites lately, while dantonio is 4-2 ats off a bye and 4-0 ats as a home dog. saw this little cfb nerd nugget, too; 2-0 teams as home dogs off a bye and 7+ ats win in game 2 are 15-5 ats since '80. but everybody knows that, right? michigan state.6. #4USC (3-0) -16.5 at CALIFORNIA (3-0) - [Opened USC -15.5]1st road game for the trojans, while the bears are off the surprise win over ol' miss. even w/that win, cal is still just 7-16 ats getting points in berkeley. sc has dominated this series (13 wins in a row, 10-2 ats the last 12) but the last 12 times they've been road favorites of 2 tds/more, the troy boys are 3-9 ats. cal's come from behind in all 3 wins and i'll ride that magic for a backdoor cover. california7. CENTRAL FLORIDA (1-0) +3.5 at MARYLAND (2-0) {Opened CF +3.5]ucf hasn't played in 3 weeks. rested or rusty? this milton kid is a good qb for the knights, but the terps already have 9 sacks in just 2 games. maryland's starting qb is out, but 2nd stringer hill has hit 84% of his passes. ucf lost to this team 30-24 at home last year, and i'll take revenge. central florida.8. UCLA (2-1) +7.5 at STANFORD (1-2) -7.5 – [Opened Stanford -9.5]both off upset losses ooc on the road. home opener for the trees, whose offense had just 8 1st downs at sd state. bruins couldn't stop memphis, and their d is beat up w/injuries. cardinal has covered 8 straight in the series, and is 11-3 ats off their last 14 losses. but stanford is just 5-12-1 ats as chalk when they allow 24+ pts. and (cfb nerd stat alert #2) game 4 away teams off a loss are 18-6 ats since '80 when playing an opponent off a su/ats loss. ucla.9. #22SAN DIEGO ST. (3-0) -3.5 at AIR FORCE (1-1) – [Opened SDSt -6]aztecs knocked off stanford last week, the falcons gave michigan fits before losing. san diego state has won 6 straight in this series, and 18 of their last 20 mountain west games. falcons are just 7-19 ats off a loss. but they're also 18-2 su in their last 20 home games, 5-0 ats getting pts at home. saw another stat where the flyboys are averaging less than 4 penalties/game, while sd state is averaging nearly 10. hidden yards matter. aztecs have won 2 straight as dogs vs pac 12 foes, and now are giving pts on the road to a league opponent w/6-time revenge. upset alert. air force. 10. #16TCU (3-0) +11.5 at #6OKLAHOMA ST. (3-0) – [Opened TCU+12.5]biggest game of the wknd imho featuring 2 teams w/true cfb playoff tracks if they win this one. cowboy qb mason rudolph has started the season w/11 td passes vs just 1 pick, but tcu's pass d will be the best he's faced by far. osu's pass d on the other hand has been fair but not dominant. frogs are an impressive 10-2 ats as double digit dogs, 8-2 ats w/big 12 revenge. cowboys have outscored opponents 59-0 is the 1st qtr so far in '17. tough call here but i'll take the points. texas christian.11. #7WASHINGTON (3-0) -10.5 at COLORADO (3-0) [Opened UW -10]ok, maybe this is the other biggest game of the wknd. since the buffs joined the pac 12, they've lost all 5 to the huskies by an average of 32 pts. ouch. that includes last yr's ccg. and cu is not as good imho on defense this yr as they were in '16. but uw is only 12-20 su on the road vs undefeated opponents and cu is 5-1 ats as home dogs of 7+. colorado.12. PITT (1-2) +7.5 at GEORGIA TECH (1-1) [Opened Pitt+7.5]i thought pitt would play psu scrappy and i was right. thought they'd do the same vs okie state and was dead wrong. panthers now face a 3rd straight quality foe, going from air cowboys the ramblin' wreck's ground attack. tough challenge. plus tech has lost the last 2 vs pitt by a fg each time, so double revenge is at play too. so is gt's 15-6 ats record as chalk of 3+ following an off week. georgia tech. 13. CINCINNATI (Extra bonus N this week, and 2-1) +11.5 at NAVY (2-0) [Opened Cin+10.5]bearcats may need a few more n's to nock off navy. uc got a pick 6 in the last 1:00 to upset arch rival miami u last week, and luke fickell's d has played well so far (just 270 yds/game allowed) but their o is not good, and playing their 3rd straight road game vs the middies' triple option off a bye week is a tall order. navy is 9-4 as home chalk, plus (cfb nerd stat alert #3) game 3 unbeatens off a bye are 8-3 su/ats vs teams off a su dog win. united states naval academy.14. NORTH CAROLINA ST. +11 (2-1) at #12FLORIDA STATE (0-1) [Opened NCSt +12.5]another game where a florida team is finally back on the field. wolfpack is just 2-8 su in this series lately, but 12-3-1 ats vs the noles. last yr nc state led the entire game til a late drive by fsu clinched a 24-20 win. 1st start for true freshman qb james blackmon, going up against a really, really good d-line. wolfpack is 11-5 ats it's last 16 away games, while fsu is 9-13 ats as acc favorites lately. north carolina state. 15. DUKE (3-0) -2.5 at NORTH CAROLINA (1-2) [Opened Duke -2.5]last yr the dukies got their 3rd win in the last 5 yrs over unc, scoring w/2:00 left for a 28-27 upset. blue devils are averaging 240+/game rushing, very academy-like and they're 15-7 ats in their last 22 away games. but they haven't covered the last 3 times to chapel hill. plus teams in the heels' position (bowl team previous yr who lost 1st 2 games then won/covered game 3) are 18-3 ats in game 4. north carolina.
