Las Vegas police officer Aden Ocampo-Gomez said the semi-truck's driver was cited for illegal backing. No injuries were reported. "The shuttle did what it was supposed to do, in that it's sensors registered the truck and the shuttle stopped to avoid the accident," the city said in a statement. "Unfortunately the delivery truck did not stop and grazed the front fender of the shuttle. Had the truck had the same sensing equipment that the shuttle has the accident would have been avoided." A car with a driver might have seen the truck backing into the alley and, after checking his rear view mirror for traffic, backed up to give the truck clearance. How often have you had to back up just a little to allow a big truck to turn into your street? I found this article about liability issues with autonomous vehicles in accidents.www.jurist.org/hotline/2017/11/Sean-Cleary-driverless-cars.php

We have all taken defensive precautions more times than we can count in a driving career. That kind of understanding is apparently a long way off. Not good.

There's no way that I would ever ride in one of these driverless vehicles-- especially given the crazy way many motorists drive in Denver nowadays.
Hell, I don't even like using automatic transmissions, (at least for driving in the mountains.)

Nobody knows how to drive them anymore.

Could you imagine flying in a pilotless airliner as some genii have suggested? There are some human jobs that can NEVER be replaced.
Would a computer have been able to control a crippled DC-10 through manipulation of engine power only like Al Haynes and his crew did at Sioux City Iowa in July of 1989? Yes, half the people died, but without humans, ALL of them would have died.
More proof that the God-created brain is better than any artificial intelligence that is man-made.
Of course the person who designed the DC-10 flight control system was an idiot, too. There should have been good old-fashioned manual cables, pulleys and bellcranks underneath the passenger cabin floor.
NEVER fly on an Airbus. They have no direct pilot control of flight control surfaces. All pilot inputs are fed into computers that move the control surfaces. So does an F-16, but the F-16 has ejection seats!!!!
