He's de facto S-I-L. They are only engaged, but might as well be married. He and my daughter even work as reserve deputies together.

The AR does have one advantage with the straight in and out magazine. The rock-to-insert mags of the Mini-14 and AK can be a PITA if you get in a hurry, especially with the bolt closed.

The only one I don't have is the AK but my wife's ex-BIL has one with a Tac-Con trigger. It's a blast... full auto-like. They live in Reno and their backyard abuts BLM land so shooting is just stepping outside and letting 'er rip! |

If I ever get another, it will have the full wooden stock. It's fun to shoot, ammo is cheap, and it is super easy to field strip. Remove the dust cover and everything is right there.
The one I know the least about is the AR. Richard had to remind me where the bolt release is. LOL!
They aren't intuitive like the charging handle on the Mini or the AR. Something I would really have to work on to break the habit of reaching up to the right side. |
