My wife and I went to a Chinese auction last night at a church.
One of the items you could put tickets in to win was an AR-15 semiautomatic rifle with three clips of ammo
They announced if you won all you had to be was over 18 and have a valid ID. That's it

Can you translate this into English for us?
For example, does that mean three magazines, 30 round capacity I assume since this is Ohio? Empty I would presume. It would be extremely bad form to auction a gun with loaded magazines. Extremely. But it was a Chinese auction so who knows?
Or does it mean three boxes worth of ammo of either 20 or 30 cartridges?
Or does it mean three magazines loaded to capacity? Either 10, 20 or 30 rounds. Because that's what you just said, assuming "clips" refers to the magazines.
Another thread designed by mikey to stir up shit loaded with obvious ignorance and stupidity.

A clip is a device used to hold cartridges so that they can be easily loaded into a magazine. They may or may not be necessary to the function of a gun. Stripper clips as used by the Lee-Enfield .303 hold 5 rounds and are discarded after loading the magazine, which holds 10. An 8 round clip is used to hold 8 rounds in the M-1 Garand magazine, and remains in it until the last round is fired.
It wouldn't matter how many "clips" you got with your AR. Without a MAGAZINE, your AR would be a single shot.
In addition, an AR is nothing but a semiautomatic rifle. Anyone who buys or is gifted one must be legally eligible to own it, the same as any other rifle. So, if the Chinese auction tries to give you a rifle you cannot legally own, you break the law if you accept it. |
