are ya not entertained? 46 Pts, 15 Rebs, 7 Asts, 7 Blks on 14/20 shooting, 2/3 from 3 and 16/19 from the FT line in 34 minutes while holding the Lakers centers to a combined 5/24 shooting. i said last year he was hakeem olajuwon and last nite you wouldn't have been able to tell the difference between the two. hakeem prob had better post up moves but joel is a better outside shooter.

Didn't see the game, but perusing the box score this morning, the thing that jumped out at me, past the obvious performance of E, 10 assists by Simmons. Those two are going to take the 6-rs places. Alas, the Lakers are working hard to provide a product that is at least watchable. So far, no luck.

Alas, the Lakers are working hard to provide a product that is at least watchable. So far, no luck. lakers were entertaining as well last nite. the game went to the buzzer b/c outside of embiid and simmons, the 76ers didn't shoot very well. and both kuzma and ingram were fantastic. kyle kuzma will be known name is most households by the end of this season. he's that good. julian randle is trash unforfunately. and lonzo ball has the yips. while ben simmons is rightly getting all the notoriety, he did have the benefit of a year off to sort of prepare himself. he was on the sixers bench all of last season so he saw the speed of the game up close. simmons can't shoot but he has confidence and he can finish at the rim and around the basket. lonzo needs to learn to first finish around the rim. if he at least develops a game around the basket, his lack of shooting won't be as big of a deal.

Naked numbers are impressive. Watched a bit of it and I'm guessing Lakers learned their D from watching old NBA AllStar games.

They'll show some offensive wizardry at one end of the court, and then immediately give up an uncontested layup 6 seconds later. It's just painful to watch. They need a coach like the Warriors had when their team was at this age. Mark Jackson was a no-nonsense, defense-first coach who gave them a defensive foundation on which to build. That foundation set the table for Steve Kerr to let the offense blossom. The other issue is L. Ball. Looking at the boxscore...15 shots...2 points, 2 assists. That won't get-it done. The talk out here is that his shot is going to need to be rebuilt in the off-season.

The talk out here is that his shot is going to need to be rebuilt in the off-season. Maybe it works out but for today the Lakers drafted the hype. Magic says off-season and that's smart but this yr is going to be a waste. The NBA has no time for rebuilding a person's game during the season. And really the same holds true at the U level. FTMP, they also don't have time and it's already too late. This young man would have been better served by not having his dad, who imo is clueless, as his AAU coach as a youngen.
If he wasn't such a highly touted and placed draft choice, he'd be on the bench. The end of the bench. Spending a cpl of hours a day at the end of practice working on his shot. IMO, maybe too late. Under fatigue and stress, muscle memory takes over. Very difficult to change. You have probably seen it in swimming.

Naked numbers are impressive. Watched a bit of it and I'm guessing Lakers learned their D from watching old NBA AllStar games. oh cmon. ya gotta give embiid his due. he was clearly on a different level. - jump shot with a hand in his face? check - pump fake to draw a foul? check - nail the open three? check - up and under move in the post? check - baby hook from down low? check - find the open man cutting to the basket? check - eurostep around a defender? check (imo the most impressive play of the night. no 7'fter has ever had footwork like that. the guy he went around was also 7' btw). oh and BTW he's an ELITE protector of the rim on defense which never gets talked about b/c you don't see it on the stat sheet. you want to dismiss embiid by saying the lakers were poor on defense? fine. but he has potential to be the top player in the league if he stays healthy. he's a generational talent.
