looks like the cavs have figured things out. 8 in a row now everytime lebron exited the game, i kept saying "now's our chance to cut into this lead" but the cavs bench was great. channing frye, jeff green and dwayne wade all with an average age of about 47 years old crushed the 76ers. lebron was his typical great self scoring, distributing and rebounding at will in limited minutes (only 27).
with the addition of jj redick and the vast improvement of robert covington, the 76ers have been a top 10 3 pt shooting team this year. they only shot 3 for 28 last nite. robert convington was shooting about 46% from three this year but went 0-9. yikes. cavs shot 15-37 from three. even though embiid had 30 pts, he seemed noticeably slower last nite. i don't know if he's fighting through an injury or if it's his conditioning but he didn't look right. he was settling for fade away and jumpers. although he has great touch on his shots, it's his power and size advantage that makes him unique. and defensively, he was late to come back and protect the rim. 76ers are really hard to score on when embiid plays well defensively. he was bailed out a a few times and got to the free throw line 9 times. i like that he's learn to position himself to get fouled when he's isolated.
i think the matchup with lebron got into ben simmons head. he struggled with turnovers. tj mcconnell continues to proves he's a mini steve nash. his improvement in the last year has been rapid. he's often the quickest player on the floor. he gets to his spots where he likes to shoot. his vision is incredible. he fights through screens like no player i've seen before. you can't set a pick against him.
overall, it was a disappointing loss. 76ers are not going to contend in the east this year. but a playoff spot is still very much a possibility.
