NCAA History X5 - The Argonauts came up one win shy of the D2 national championship in their second year of existence on the playing field: aolcfboutcasts.proboards.com/thread/32716/west-florida-argonauts-make-historyPensacola is my life-long home town and West Florida is the home team university for college football. Given the magnitude of the NCAA historical run made by the Argos in their second year of playing to reach the national championship final, I'm going to keep a loose record here of what UWF does moving forward.

Blue Wahoos Stadium - the current home of West Florida football - the stadium is located in downtown Pensacola directly on Pensacola Bay and is about 10 miles from the West Florida campus: goargos.com/sports/2014/12/14/FB_1214145051.aspx?path=footballThe article says 5100, but UWF played to packed houses right at 5500 for a lot of the games.

Way Too Early Top 10 Plus Best of the Rest for 2018: www.ncaa.com/news/football/article/2017-12-28/dii-football-way-too-early-preseason-top-10West Florida Argonauts = #1 West Alabama is in the next group just outside the top 10, but other Gulf South Conference teams are capable of getting there too. With Delta State, Florida Tech, North Alabama, Valdosta State, and West Georgia there will be no shortage of good teams capable of coming out of the GSC into the D2 playoff in 18.

2018 Football Schedule: goargos.com/news/2018/2/8/football-uwf-unveils-2018-schedule.aspxgoargos.com/schedule.aspx?schedule=191"UWF will step out of conference play on Oct. 6 and travel to North Alabama. The game will mark the first against a Division I program in school history." North Alabama is moving up in classification to a new member of the D1 Big South Conference, an FCS conference. UWF played and beat UNA 30-7 in Pensacola in the 17 season. The 18 game is the second half of a home and home. North Alabama was D2 when the game was scheduled. It's not like UWF originally went looking for a D1 program for the third season of its existence. The Argos have a very good returning team with 17 of 21 starters back from the 17 season, some will have them preseason #1, but the schedule is also difficult as it always is in football in the Gulf South Conference. The ooc at North Alabama and at Midwestern State is difficult too.
